I hope this will find the culprit of the problems but I am not going to count my chickens before they hatch. I would like to hear some answers on my question about the timing being off a tooth on the oil pump though. If the oil pump gear was off a tooth to how the pump is supposed to alighn would th...

OK guys, I called a place in El Paso, Texas this morning and talked with them. They said they can test the enjectors and pump and find out if there is a problem. If they find the pump not working proper they will tear it down and find out what parts are bad. They told me that once they found what th...

I tried using the primer to give the engine more fuel while it ran but when i do this the engine sounds loud and blows out geryish white and black smoke. it almost makes a pinging noise. the shutoff lever works fine and is not slightly on. I am going...

Scottyb, it only has a hydrolic operated ripping bar on the back with two hydrolic cylinders to operate it. the Hoses are coming from the hydrolic valve box on the left of the seat where the controls for the front 6-way are. they all connect in the valve body and there are no quick connect fittings ...

Stan, I don't think that the foot brake is messed up because as the machine is moving I played with it to see if I could feel/hear it working. As I am moving forward I start pushing the right foot brake and start feeling the resistance(but not till I have the pedal pushed a ways down). The engine st...

Mini Kahuna, If I get on an incline and push in the clutch or put it in nuetral the machine will take off like it is on ice. I don't feel it is a brake or internal binding issue. I also can not see how the motor could be worn that bad and not have power if the thing does not seem to burn a lick of o...

Stan, I am new to crawlers and very new to diesel engines. I have operated lots of machinery and worked on alot as well but I am no expert in the sense. I did quite a few years in the timber industry as a professional timber faller but I also ran tracked and wheeled skidders and spent alot of time r...

I will try the tests that Possum talks about for the reverser and see what happens. I don't think the brakes are sticking because I can put it in nueteral on an incline and the machine will roll very easily and I will have to use the foot brake to stop it. If the reverser does have a problem will da...

Can anybody tell me what compression the cylinders should have? Before I had the head rebuilt all cylinders were right around 250psi but I have not checked compression since the rebuilt head was installed, I just assumed it would be more than 250psi. I will check it again when I install all new glow...

Scottyb, I will go back thrue all the fuel system again and make sure that there are no clogs, but it has a glass fuel sediment bowl and you can see fuel movement and it never gets air or space in it. Also, there are two lines off of the fuel tank that go to the sediment bowl before the filters and ...

Possum, I really don't know anything about the reverser that you speak of but I do know that I can put the machine in 1'st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and reverse and use the reverser lever and clutch to switch from forward to reverse in any gear and it works just fine. No noises, or hesitation etc. It just see...

Stan, I completely took the oil bath filter system off and submerged it in gasoline and cleaned the entire thing out. Don't worry, I left it sitting in the sun and air for about a month while the head was being rebuilt at the automotive machine shop. I also ran the thing with nothing connected to th...

Vailvally59, when I throttle up all the way and start ripping or dozing it does throw out black smoke. I don't really have to put much load on it and it starts to bog down and the smoke gets blacker. The only time I get white smoke is on startup and when the machine is idling. I was messing with the...

I thought that buying this John Deere 1010 was a good Idea but am starting to second guess myself. I originally was thinking of buying a Nortrac 35xtd dozer. I researched the web and found alot of forums telling people that buying a used American Machine was a better way to go than buying the China ...
