Re: Ignition failure on 1010 gas engine

The problem has been fixed and I am taking the stump roots out on a 200 year old red oak stump today. The stump is 7 foot 3 inches across at 30 inches above the ground. I burned the center of the stump before putting the 1010 on it. The roots push out like tree stumps. The ignition problem turned ou...

Re: Ignition failure on 1010 gas engine

The temperature here in Southeast Virginia was great today and I made some tests on the 1010 ignition. The new points and condenser are installed. The points are measuring low/high resistance at the distributor output. The voltage to the coil is present on both start and run positions of the ignitio...

Re: Ignition failure on 1010 gas engine

Thanks for the help. The battery is 12 volts and positive ground. I have replaced the points and condenser since the contact points had some wear. The coil looks original and has continuity on the low voltage side. The coil has no voltage or name on it however the terminals are marked plus(+) and (-...

Ignition failure on 1010 gas engine

I am suddenly without any ignition. I have the Wico distributor and coil. I have voltage to the coil. A 12 volt battery is in the crawler. Was the original battery 12 volt? Is the coil 6 volt or 12 volt? Any trouble shouting recommendations? Joe

Thanks, I think I will use the cushions I have for a while and get some other items done. Just cleaning, painting, and catching up on maintenance is taking all the time I have. Fortunately the crawler was stored in a barn. Joe

Seat cushions for 1010C

I am planning to buy a 4 piece seat cushion set and would like to get recommendations on vendors, quality, price, etc. My old set could be covered if necessary.

Looks like you got the blade identified. Is there a reference for this type of information? My 1010 is gas and the exhaust goes straight up and about 2 inch diameter. I do not know if the original exhaust was vertical or horizontal. Thanks, Joe

Thanks for the reply. I measured the blade and it measured 88 inches across the top, 86 1/4 across the middle, and 89 1/2 across the bottom. This could be off a fraction of an inch but is close. I want to buy a new 4 cushion set for the seat. It is the high back heavy steel seat frame. Do you recomm...

1010C blade identification

I would like to know what the John Deere blade type is on my 1961 1010. It is heavy and mounted outside the tracks. It will also angle with manual pins. There is no ID tag on the blade. Thanks, Joe Copeland
