Re: JD 450A - No start after Hydraulic hose failure

Good thought on the quick connects. The back hoe has a couple to connect it to the machine. I will double check those!

Re: JD 450A - No start after Hydraulic hose failure

Thanks for the response Jim. I went through and toggled all of the hydraulics. It didn't seem to fix the issue.

Good catch on the section, my bad!

JD 450A - No start after Hydraulic hose failure

Hey guys, I have a gray market JD 450A with 95A back-hoe. A year or so ago I was digging stumps and one of the old back-hoe hydraulic lines blew. It sat for a few months before I finally got around to replacing the hose and when I did the temps had dropped and the battery was dead so I couldn't star...

Re: JD 450 tune up (Euro Market)

Alright, time for the next phase of getting this old machine tuned up. Left steering clutch seems to be adjusted well, however; the right side I have to pull back considerably further for the same result. Seems like just an adjustment issue since it does still function, so stay tuned for updates!

Re: JD 450 tune up (Euro Market)

It sounds like you still have an air issue. Nailed it! Yes he did! Hopefully others can learn from my experience, put an o-ring on that bleed screw! Also been thinking about the cab that's on this thing. I like it, but no way its gonna do much as ROPS. Any ideas on adding some additional framing in...

Re: JD 450 tune up (Euro Market)

Hey guys I just wanted to update this thread for closure on the issues I listed. Last time I was on here I took a perfectly starting/running/operating machine and did a full fluids/filters change on it. Afterwards it wouldn't start well, would only run at wide open throttle, and had poor hydraulic p...

Re: JD 450 tune up (Euro Market)

Alright guys, spring is here and I'm getting ready to mess with this old thing again. Hoping to clear a driveway in the next couple of months. When I put it back in the barn in the fall two new issues. Remember I just did a full fluids and filters change and these problems we're not present before I...

Re: JD 450 tune up (Euro Market)

I was wondering about compression. But it always started just fine until I messed with the fuel system. Im gonna make sure the fuel delivery is ok first.

Re: JD 450 tune up (Euro Market)

Finally got to operate it a bit last weekend. Im thinking my injection pump or injectors must be having some kind of problem or there is still air in the system. It now requires ether to start every time. In addition it only stays running at mid rpm or high. Anything below that and it stalls out. Ne...

Re: JD 450 tune up (Euro Market)

Well I got it started back up this evening. I don't wanna talk about how much starter fluid I had to use. At least it was the kind with upper cylinder lubricant, and I used a spray bottle to mist some diesel into the intake between sprays of starter fluid. Given all the trouble getting it started I ...

Re: JD 450 tune up (Euro Market)

Thats what I thought, but i wanted to make sure before I placed an order for the seals/rings. Anyone have one of those tools on here they would like to rent to me? Or any other experience based advice on how to install. Jim, you mentioned a bleeder on the injection pump head. What part do you mean? ...

That sounds like a good time haha. Where does one find this special tool?

Will I need to replace #13 ? Exhaust caps?

Re: JD 450 tune up (Euro Market)

What numbers are you referring to when you say carbon stop? #11 is a rubber type oring. What makes them hard to change?

Re: JD 450 tune up (Euro Market)

That's correct, where the injector goes into the head (See item #11 in diagram below). I didn't do anything to the bolt that holds them in (#9) but I think the movement of loosening the lines compromised the seals. Could that cause me an issue? http://jdcrawlers.lcent.com:8000/johndeere/albums/userp...

Re: JD 450 tune up (Euro Market)

Jim, just wanna say thanks for all of the replies on here! So I have a steady dribble at each injector. I tried closing all but one and seeing if the pressure would build but I dont think the injectors are popping open. It could be cranking speed, poor starter got a work out today. Battery was dead,...
