Re: 350 winch
I would not let that old iron go down. You have all the “hard-to-find stuff”. The seals, bearings are common to other equipment. Gaskets can be cut. You have the brake covered. Clutch disc are available. Definitely, go for it. It won’t be the cheapest part of your crawler, but it will be nice.

We don’t run the center link on rotary cutters. I have seen some others run a chain in place of the center link. I have witnessed lots of twisted/broken stuff b/c of binding,

Re: 450? Or 450b?
SN on engine doesn’t correspond to SN of crawler. They are mutually exclusive. And as far as I know, no one has or knows the significance of the engine SN’s (regarding year of manufacturing).

Re: 450? Or 450b?
Hello. Under the “Board Index” there is a tab “John Deere crawler FAQ’s”. If you click that section, there is a SN thread for 450’s. It is 2-3 threads down. It appears your machine is a 450 Straight. 1970. Steering clutches are dry. The plug you have described is most likely the final drive fill. Fo...

Re: 450 c 3325 winch
Hello Kyjimmy! First off, we need to find out if you have a spool or rotary valve. The spool valve will be mounted more under the seat and have a silver spool moving in and out of a casing with the cable control. The spool valve is a small square box, about 3”x3” mounted directly onto the winch hous...

I would contact Lavoy (owner of this site). His contact info is listed at the “Lavoy’ Little Shop O’Deeres” section about 4-5 threads down from the top.

Re: Looking for 450 tool tray pictures or measurements
Hello oldmetalmender,
The straps and the board(plate) arrived. The package was in good shape. And the parts fit the wider battery box very well.
Thank you, Bruce

Re: 450-C Injection pump and timing questions
Welcome to the crawler board. Did you witness break down of the ring in the window? Mouse turds? I would look at the entire system before resigning to a IP rebuild. The check valve on the IP solenoid cover. The vent on the fuel tank. Fuel filters. Fuel supply from the tank. These all can cause simil...

I have heard the technician may need to turn the brake control module on with a computer, also. Gotta love new computer technology. I had a friend who had to have this programming done. $$$
