Re: Hydraulic Oil and Trans Oil change
I believe the two systems are separate, also. The 1.5" hose/pipe you found should go all the way to the front of the engine, to the engine driven hydraulic pump. The drain for the hydraulic system is under the right box. Pipe thread plug under the box, above the track. Best regards, Bruce

Re: 1010c Ultimate Value?
Your estimate for the engine work seems high to me. Maybe a regional thing? Have you looked for a good replacement engine? Parting out your unit is an option, but that takes a significant effort and time. One piece sells this month, another piece sells in 4 months. 2 years down the road you have a c...

Re: 1010c Ultimate Value?
It is awful easy to spend more $$ than these crawlers are worth. I'm suspicious your crawler will not be close to a $12,000 value. Spending more $$ on it doesn't make since if it is an investment, flip project, show tractor etc... people with unlimited budgets may proceed with an upside down project...

Re: 40C vs 420C hyd pump
Groo- your explanation works in theory minus one real world factor. Load. We want our blades and buckets to hold dead still(at work and at the shows). If the leathers or the Orings are worn or cracked and let oil bypass, the blade/bucket/ cylinder will drift.

Re: Getting a 2 cylinder to burn cleaner?
Sure sounds like a rich mix. Your carb will need adjusted, possible rebuilt. Other issues that you could look at include the ignition system. Make sure the distributor and internals are up to snuff. The HEI conversions have been a good modification. Coil needs to be in good shape to properly light t...

Re: 450 c Fuel problem
Good morning, the vent tube is permanent. The dipstick and screen are removable. Yes, the screen is index and should only go in one way. The drain has nothing to do with the pressure you describe, but still could cause your other issues. I would remove, clean and replace the sump drain and component...

Re: 450 c Fuel problem
When you describe the fuel tank, are you sure air is coming out(positive pressure) or is it a vacuum (negative pressure). If it is negative pressure, the vent tube in the tank is plugged. Under the fuel lid there should be several items. A removable metal manual fuel stick/gauge, a plastic ring cont...

Re: 555A SN and general info
Good morning Nick, Welcome to the Deere Crawler site. Stan has serial numbers listed for different models in the "John Deere crawler FAQ's" section. If you go to the main page select the FAQ section, the triple nickel serial number section is about 10 or 12 threads down. It appears your crawler is a...

Re: Does fuel filter need to be full
Check engine oil for diesel contamination. Those pumps have an o ring on the engine side. They leak fuel into the engine oil; therefore, I believe it is possible to develop air in the fuel system. This type of problem needs to be caught early. Stan can give us an education on the properties of diese...

Re: Looking at a 450C anything to watch out for?
check the radiator for bubbles or pressure as you operate, it is fairly common for people to skip the anti-cavitation additive to the antifreeze creating hotspots at the base of the sleeve, sediment also builds along the cylinder sleeves causing pinholes in the sleeve and therefore pressurizing the ...

Re: Looking at a 450C anything to watch out for?
I really like the 450C series. Check for pressure building up in the radiator. Look for milk shake in any/all the oils. Look for wear in the front and rear cross members. Look for loose, broken, missing bolts under the machine, clutch housing, transmission. Check the transmission case and the frame ...
