Re: 450c frame and purchase questions

Ex forestry machine can be bad b/c they may have had many different operators (good, bad inexperienced etc). But these machines usually had lower hours and no expense spared with the tax payer dollars!! The winch is powered by a winch drive that exits the rear of the machine. There is a splined coup...

Re: 450c frame and purchase questions

The only function you would not have is angle, which is helpful for moving material from one side to the other side. As stated the outside blades are more robust. The hydraulic tilt is definitely a plus. I would not turn down that crawler b/c it is a 6415 and not a 6405! I think it would do all the ...

Re: 450c frame and purchase questions

Welcome to the board. Nice looking 450. The outside mount hydraulic tilt blade is a 6415, I believe. Typically the outside mount blades are stronger than the inside mount blades. The chains look nice and have plenty of hours of service left. Single bar grousers look really good, also. Make sure the ...

Re: 450 PTO control/engagement lever - where is it?

The rotary type is inferior to the spool type. Deere started with spools and then graduated to rotary types. Then had lots of trouble like you are describing. They warranted a lot of rotary valves, they eventually replaced them with spool valves in a recall. And switched future production to spool v...

Re: 450 PTO control/engagement lever - where is it?

Just a couple of additional ideas to contribute to the above. There is a small wire screen attached to the pick up for the hydraulic pump in the winch. This screen is a small tube with fine wire mess and gets plugged easily as the winches are often used hard and neglected. The screen is approximatel...

Re: 450 PTO control/engagement lever - where is it?

Parts wise and fundamental wise, the PTO (power take off) and the winch drive are very different. The winch drive only sticks out the back of the case 2-3 inches. The PTO is like 8 inches

A picture may be worth a thousand words. You can ask Lavoy for permission to post pics on this sites dedicated picture server. Details are under the Messageboard Q&A and announcement section. Have you check the physical connection between the crawler and the winch. It is hard telling what the PO has...

Re: Needing a new air compressor

I have really liked Eaton(now Quincy). Low RPM pumps with good CFM. Most with 100% duty cycles. Also like Ingersoll Rands.

Re: Replacing cylinder liners cracked block

Engine is a 300 series Deere. I believe it is a 4219. Lots of other apps. But they are getting older and more difficult to find.

Re: Replacing cylinder liners cracked block

Immediately after you installed the sleeves, did you use large washers and bolts threaded into the block to hold the sleeves down into the block? The orings will swell and lift the sleeves, if left unsecured. You would think torquing the head down would be enough to push these back down, but all tha...

450C with 75 loader hydraulic hoses

I recently blew out a hose on the boom cylinder on the 75 loader. I replaced all 12 hoses as they appeared original with similar cycles/time and wear. This project has been well over due, outer covers have been cracked and peeling off for a great while(I have owned this machine for 16 yrs). I though...
