Re: JD450C 1975 New Starter Motor Needed

Good morning, I was unable to find the OEM numbers. But I have listed the exact link to the one I have in my 450c. Works great, sounds like a Toyota when cranking, but I’m okay with that. https://www.ebay.com/itm/330649773100?hash=item4cfc43242c:g:n7sAAOSw6jJcF00h&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8GJHKfwoOs56KN...

Re: JD350 - PTO

Welcome to the site, I really like the pics. What a find, nice OEM three point with center link. The sticker is a “generic “ sticker attached to almost all of our late model yellow machines. The cover is where a winch drive or the pto shaft would go. There is definitely not room for a pto under that...

Re: 450 in pieces

Check the clutch housing. Like mouse nest, debris, corrosion etc. check the drain hole in the bottom of the clutch housing. Is it free or plugged?

Re: How to determine model year with no number plate

Some crawlers had the SN stamped in the battery box. Like underneath the SN tag bxt the two rivets. Can you see where the two rivet were that held the tag to the battery box? Are there multiple layers of paint that could be hiding this stamping?

Re: 350B with rockshaft- backhoe mount?

Hello Andy B, Your rockshaft will need to be removed to attach a 9300 hoe in its natural/factory configuration. There is a mounting bracket for the hoe that attaches the unit to the tractor. Once setup, the procedure is relatively quick. I have read here that you will need a hydraulic source from yo...

Re: 350C Undercarriage Overhaul

I’m not sure two piece master or alligator master link is available for the 350. This type of master doesn’t require the master pin to be drive in and out.

Re: 350C Undercarriage Overhaul

If your crawler is functioning as it should, sans undercarriage, it would definitely be worth the time, $ and effort. It will be a transforming and rewarding job. It can all be done with simple hand tools.

If available it would upgrade to the two piece master link.

Re: 450 and 550 compatibility?

A quick review of the Deere parts online list the same dozers for the two machines. 6405, 6410, and 6415. I think the 6405 is the inside mount 6 way. To see how comparable the 450 and the 550 dozers are you can take time and sift through the parts manuals compare the two. https://partscatalog.deere....

Re: 450C steering clutches oil

The 450C has a common sump. Steering clutch oil fill plugs should be red locktite shut. Trans and R/L steering clutches have a common sump.

Re: JD 450c 4219t, Who manufactuers reputable rebuild kits?

The engine is held to the bell housing with four bolts. Really very simple to pull engine. I don’t have a sleeve puller, so I would drop the belly pan and oil pan and pull the head. This way I could use my port-a-power to push the sleeves out( using the weight of the crawler to help push the sleeves...

Re: JD 450c 4219t, Who manufactuers reputable rebuild kits?

Motor may not need to come out. This is a wet sleeve motor, you can in-frame rebuild(assuming your block is good). If you find evidence of cavitation and pin holes in the lower liners, you may be luck and have a good block.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

Re: JD 450c 4219t, Who manufactuers reputable rebuild kits?

Hello Marc, I use kits made by Reliance. Local distribution for me is Endurance Power in Lincoln, NE. There use to be many more builders/ manufacturers. A&I use to be very competitive in pricing. They very putting such a hurting on the big boys, that the big boy bought them up. As you can imagine, p...
