Re: Does fuel filter need to be full

Check engine oil for diesel contamination. Those pumps have an o ring on the engine side. They leak fuel into the engine oil; therefore, I believe it is possible to develop air in the fuel system. This type of problem needs to be caught early. Stan can give us an education on the properties of diese...

Re: Looking at a 450C anything to watch out for?

check the radiator for bubbles or pressure as you operate, it is fairly common for people to skip the anti-cavitation additive to the antifreeze creating hotspots at the base of the sleeve, sediment also builds along the cylinder sleeves causing pinholes in the sleeve and therefore pressurizing the ...

Re: Looking at a 450C anything to watch out for?

I really like the 450C series. Check for pressure building up in the radiator. Look for milk shake in any/all the oils. Look for wear in the front and rear cross members. Look for loose, broken, missing bolts under the machine, clutch housing, transmission. Check the transmission case and the frame ...

A very good water dispersant. The WD people have a WD Specialist version that is much better than the OG.

Re: Brocken bolts on clutch housing

I have used the drill guides to center the bit over a bolt broke off deep. They worked very well and saved the original threads. The carbide-tip bits from Fastenal were ineffective. The cobalt bit was much better. If drilling go slow(RPM), let the bit cool frequent and often. I did not use any cutti...

Re: Brocken bolts on clutch housing

I have drilled broken bolts out of the front crossmember. 5/8” bolts, pretty hard. Two man operation. One running the floor jack with my super slow 600 RPM Sioux Drill on top of the jack with Cobalt bits. One bit would drill two bolts; then it was done. All the above ideas are good. Heat and or weld...

Re: 350 B Track

Drive in a water hole or drive over a cheap blue tarp/pull up the edges/fill with enough water to cover the chain on the ground. Pull forward and repeat until the track is done. The use the track frequent. Best regards, Bruce

I agree with 77 Ford. Limp into winter with spare use. Check fluids regularly, much more often than normal and replace, drain. Bruce

Re: 450 C Final Drive

Here is the reason I asked. If he has a common sump and he has checked the steering clutch case, it is normal for the oil level to be above the steering clutch check plug level. In that case, he had no problems. Point being, do you have a common sump. If yes, don't check the plugs in the steering ca...
