Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

Thanks Bruce. I should be getting your vandalism cover any day now. I am looking forward to some metal work. And Lavoy that is good news. I have a long day of errands today. I should return by 6PM my time. Or tomorrow should work and I can get you paid up. Thanks again for helping me with the inject...

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

I have a question on the throttle bellcrank behind the dash panel that connects to the push pull cable. I found the pivoting link on the throttle handle was frozen with rust on one side. I took it all apart for bead blasting and cleanup and found what looks to be a missing pin. There is a weld behin...

Re: Vandalism guard and tool tray insert for the left box

Sounds great Bruce. I am looking forward to it. I am having some bad weather and spotty internet, but will let you know when it arrives. We have exactly 3 feet of snow and now rain in the forecast. Part of the deal here.
Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Saving manuals that are coming apart

Some great ideas there. And interesting on the elmers glue. Only a few pages have come out. So I think I will try to get some glue in the back and then get two binders. I never even noticed they were already punched for a binder. My fix it list keeps growing despite continuous attempts to get ahead ...

Saving manuals that are coming apart

So I have been in my tech and parts book every day since taking my engine out. My manuals are coming apart. The binding is letting go of the pages. It is getting worse every time I look something up. Is there a way to save them and reglue the backs or bindings? I am not sure I am calling it by the r...

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

Well we lost power again. Third time in 24 hours. The 7th time so far this winter. Yesterday I set up LED lights, put on a headlamp and ran my soldering iron off a small 1980's old suitcase 650 Watt Honda generator. I was wondering what I would ever use that thing for. It was perfect to solder with....

Re: Vandalism guard and tool tray insert for the left box

Hi Bruce,
I just finished a PM and power went out again.... Third time in 24 hours. I just retyped everything and sent you my contact info and a rough guess on what it should take to create a new cover. I hope it works for you.
Cheers,
Al

Re: Vandalism guard and tool tray insert for the left box

Well cool, another metal fabricator. :D I could make at least two. The first one is always the most time consuming. Measuring and pattern making, test fitting, adjustments, etc. I would be pretty clueless as to how much one would be worth. Or what people would be comfortable paying. But you and I bo...

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

The JD dealer shows no inventory on the service air filter and start and stop procedure decals. Meaning no longer available. NLA. They did give me some phone numbers of some private business that showed them in stock. And the gauge panel is getting put back together. I will add that Isspro makes the...

What are your thoughts on that? I am wondering if the demand would be there.

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

Called Polen and being the only one online that shows it (other than AVSspare) and they don't have it. Looking it up he said this looks like an industrial part and John Deere won't sell it to them. They are agricultural. This yellow and green thing is strange. I will call the local JD dealership. Th...

Re: Vandalism guard and tool tray insert for the left box

Bruce, Take a look in this picture. I believe it is the tool tray you were looking for. They probably only want 500 bucks for it. A total bargain.

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

I could not think of what word ended with an E on the decal. Service.... Ha, it eluded me. Thanks for that. So the decal still seems difficult to find. Polen Implement has one listed for 13 and change, but says call for info. So they probably make to order. The other site that lists it, and this is ...

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

I have two questions. 1975 JD450C 6 way blade. If I remove hoses to replace them from the hydraulic control valves just forward of the hydraulic tank, especially the main pressure line from the pump, will it drain the tank? Should I drain the oil before doing some hose replacements? OK three questio...
