Re: Stabilizer cylinder seal assembly help

It will all work out. God has a plan for me. I am still here. I just can't find the memo box with that plan.... Got most of the cylinder shaft piston parts put back in place today. Then the phone rang.. and rang again. I will get it done tomorrow. Thanks again for the help. Putting new parts t...

Re: Stabilizer cylinder seal assembly help

Yes Jim the orientation of all the parts is as you said. I do have the round snap ring in the end of the cylinder tube and the gland nut to hold it secure once put together. I was thinking on this yet again last night. And thinking about a typical lip seal, well it is to hold back oil or grease. So ...

Stabilizer cylinder seal assembly help

Greetings group, This is for my 1969 JD400 backhoe. I didn't want to sign up to another forum for this. I trust the knowledge base here as I got some really great help on my 450C engine upgrade. I had a stabilizer cylinder develop a huge leak. I had a JD rebuild kit RE18754 on hand, purchased when t...

Re: New hydraulic pump and now a pressure question

Yes 77Ford, the pump up front. The splines were worn to a knife edge and ready to wipe away.

Re: New hydraulic pump and now a pressure question

Oh boy.... This is why forums are so valuable. I apparently had no idea. Yeah a little embarrassing but if I don't ask, I won't learn. So I have not had a chance to check the pressure at the 1500 RPM range. I was getting prepared to add the shim or penny to boost it up some if it is low. I know it u...

Re: New hydraulic pump and now a pressure question

Thank you Bruce. I appreciate the info. If it is in the manual I missed it. Glad the parts are working well for you. I enjoyed making them. Could not have done it without you and Stan. :)

New hydraulic pump and now a pressure question

Crawler is a 1975 JD450CJ with 6 way blade. I have replaced the 4219 engine with an upgraded 4239 as detailed in the 3rd head gasket thread. While I had it apart I found the hydraulic pump had bad splines, close to wiping them clean off the shaft. The old pump made good pressure. I made sure to get ...

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

Thank you. The engine project quickly snowballed into a very expensive set of apologies to the wife for promising to keep it under 4 grand. I went way past double that. I fired it up a couple months ago while everything was under snow and ice. I wanted to rotate a shipping container to reposition it...

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

Track man Spokane Wa. Nice folks. I would have to find the file for the price. 500ish? It is built better than the one that is coming off. I need to change it out. The track pin removal is keeping me from proceeding. That and a truck build occupying the shop space needed to wrestle with the machine....

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

I want to apologize to the folks that have sent me PM's. I have not been back in a while and assumed I would get an email notification when a PM came through. Not so, I will check back more frequently. I have sent out responses and again, sorry... I will be back with more 450C projects this summer. ...

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

Funny, I just wandered into this site to see what was up. I was surprised to see this build thread on the front page. I enjoyed the build. It still starts with less than a full revolution. I have only put about two hours on it since getting it running. It is under a tarp next to my old JD400 backhoe...

Re: 450C how to bar over engine?

I had the hyd pump drive off for my rebuild. I bought a cheap 13? spline shaft and cut it short. Then welded a very large nut on it. Easy quick and now I can turn the engine over with a wrench. As long as the pump spline drive is off and out of the way. I think there is a picture of it in my long 3r...
