Re: 450C Combined Sump

1. Not all 450c's had a common sump and some had separate ones. I think this was a remnant of the change over from dry clutches of the 450b. 2. The final drives are suppose to be full. I've done some pressure testing on my 450's HLR and have issue's with L but I am not sure what problem you are solv...

Re: John Deere Crawler Literature and Memorabilia

I am still sifting thru my father's stuff and I discovered some shiny John Deere construction and forestry brochures from the 1970's.

For memorabilia, I've had the little 1010 crawler in my profile pic for 10 - 15 years.

Re: JD450C radiator availabilty

JDParts says a AT116777 Radiator is the same thing as the AT39009.

I didn't look long but the cheapest I saw was 1500. Ouch, if fixing is an option....

They are an 'interference' fit.

I've removed mine once. I see no danger of it ever coming out on its own.

Re: 2 dozers

I see the lights of Victoria, BC across the strait at night, Port Angeles, Washington. I figured 2005.6 miles at a generous pace of 6 miles per hour for a non-stop fun-filled 333 hours. In retrospect, a complete ground-up overhaul stop in a dusty wind-blown farmers potato field near Whitefish, Monta...

Re: 2 dozers

Nice!

I'm not too busy right now, it would only take me about 14 days to drive it home, providing, of course, I take a direct crow flies submarine path across Lake Michigan not stopping for anything including fuel, sleep, and bathroom breaks.

Re: Need advice on dealing with asshats

Had a friend many years ago restoring a car and ordered some rare ball joints for it. For a long time, every time he'd call or come in, he'd be told they were still "zero'ed" along with a long-winded excuse-of-the-day explanation. He ended up naming the manager "Zero" and his assistant Double Zero"....

450C won't shut off

I ran my 450c for about an hour yesterday and when I was done, It wouldn't shut down with key off. I gave it quick check, the power to the terminal on the injector pump went cold with key off. Also, there was no throttle response with the key off, it would only idle. It's kind of a loppy idle, bounc...

Me and the Missus have been at it for 16 years and I won't add anything incriminating, but:

Nope, not just you.

jdparts says a AT165587 for a straight 350.

ETA: Less than $30 from some unnamed online retailer.
