I'd want to see what oil pressure it has. Might give a rough idea of engine life. Mine has no hour meter so its about all I have.

From the sounds, does the valve buzzing noise start approximately the same time the frothy oil shows up?

There is an interesting idea, a transparent line at the cooler checking for bubbles in the stream from the pump sucking air or cavitating when it starts making the buzzing noise.

If you have a herd of 350's then parts machines make good sense.

I saw a 1010 loader recently on CL for 2K, it looked like a bomb had gone off nearby. I have no idea what it actually went for though, I didn't let it follow me home.

Should have laid it out carefully, measured it twice, making notes of the exact dimension then whip out a double bit ax and start wailing on it.

I'd agree with you; when you have one, a spare, at the right price, is a gold mine.

Sorry, the proper terminology from my service manual is Cushioned and Rapid shifts. I should know better than changing the jargon. For H -> L or L -> H, the shift is as rapid as possible.
