Thanks Lavoy and Jim, I've determined they are of the gland nut style, that being said the wrenches are harder to find than hens teeth :roll: Anyway I have a new issue I would like to roll out here in hopes of ideas. Was moving my JD back to the garage and once parked noticed a good trickle of fluid...

Hi all, been awhile since I've been here, lots goin on, any way I have to rebuild one of my main lift cylinders on my 420-C loader and want to know if the top unscrews ? or is there some other hidden way to open the cyl.? And hopefully Lavoy will have a rebuild kit! Thanks

Not guilty Stan, apparently the coil , which I doubt was original was dated, after installing new coil spark was sharp and blue, just had to reset the points and clean! Thank GOD for no electronic ignition, It could only get better if it was magneto :D She 's running top shelf just in time to unload...

Thanks to all, turns out cleaning the points and a new coil solved the problem, the patient is healthy and back to work!!

Thanks fellas, just one more thing , how is the coil wired on a pos grnd ? is the - side to the switch or the + ? And I have continuous power thru the coil , that doesn't seem right ?

Hey everyone, Happy new year hope you're all healthy and wise! Need a little help with my 420-c. Ran fine two days ago went to start it this morning spins the motor fine but no joy, no spark at plugs or coil . Replaced coil /condenser still nothing ? any help would be greatly appreciated, I need it ...

That sounds awesome notmeu, would you have any pics/schematics or detailed instrucs that I could look at or download? also will the diverter switch work on a 6 volt sys.?

Gschrader, Don't think I can help, mine is a 1956 JD-L-C with the reverser on the right of center,but maybe the principals are the same just on the other side, I can send you my service manual PDF, maybe there is not a big difference?
