Well the vent isn't clogged. That was the first sign that it might have blow by(the amount coming out the vent). Possible the rings were not installed right but if that is the case I'm out of luck as the engine was done a year ago an there is no warranty. Could be that everything is not tight or gas...

Yep, Sorry it is a 4 cyl diesel. I think the TD400s were in tractors in the late 60s early 70s. I have tightened everything (I think). I guess my question is if anyone has used the JD Break In oil and if they saw something similar with it. I guess I will just have to run it and keep a close eye on t...

High crankcase pressure on new rebuild.
I have a td 400 engine in a 450c dozer. I got the engine from a guy who said it was rebuilt a year ago but never used. He wasn't sure what it had for oil so I drained it and put in the John Deere break in oil. After some trouble getting the injectors to prime I got it running, everything seems Ok (r...

Looking at the one I was going to install it in there aren't any threads. So I'm pretty sure it is pressed in some how. What I was kinda looking for is if anyone had been able to remove one successfully. I tried locking on to it with vise grips and tapping it with a hammer but I didn't want to go to...

Tach gear replacement
Is it possible to remove the tach gear from the end of the camshaft on one motor and install it in another?
Or is it pressed in and impossible to get out?
I have tried so I know it will not come out easy.
Thanks, Ted

Thanks guys. It appears that the valve seized in the guide. It,s still sticking out and I can't move it. So there is a chance it did not hit the piston (fingers crossed) but I won't know until I pull the head. I'm not going to worry about the injector pump until I figure out the rest but do you thin...

Broken valve on 450c dozer
Dozer died in a cloud of black smoke about 45 minutes after an oil change. She wasn't working hard, just pushing some tree tops at about 1500rpm. At first it seemed like the injector pump as it wasn't getting any fuel to the injector but because of the way she stop I just wanted to look at the top o...
