Thanks for the reply Stan. I did recently replace the battery and when I had the starter apart checked the bushings. The front looked good the tail end did look a bit dirty and I admit I did not give it enough attention. I will address the tail end bushing and try again.

I replaced the gauges in my 68 dozer a while back and the ammeter and oil pressure worked fine. The water and oil temp, not so fine. After consulting Stewart Warner I checked the voltage regulator and found a few melted wires leaving the regulator and a bad harness. I eliminated the harness and sold...

Looking for a replacement tach for a 1968 450 straight dozer new or used with cable., or the specs for the tach (ratio). Any help/info will be appreciated.

Decided to go with Stans advice and contacted Stewart Warner. They were very helpful and were able to pull prints and cross reference new gauges and sending units for me. Received the new gauges yesterday and installed them today. I can now begin reassembly and hopefully have this sucker running bef...

Thank you for your replies gentlemen. The problem I am continuing to have with aftermarket gauges is that all the pressure and temp guages (engine oil and transmission oil) that I have found have a port for either a pressure tube or a thermocouple. The guages on my dozer only have two post terminals...
