I had the carb soaked for two days in solvent and the guy who rebuilt my motor also rebuilt the carb all new guts. The gas is fresh and the tank is a plastic temporary one as the original is being cleaned inside due to rust and other debris. However I am not sure about the float 1/4" adjustment I wi...

I installed the float and had to bend it a little to keep it from overfilling the carb. I then started the machine and tried to set the idle but 1 1/2 turns out was too much I continued to screw it in until it was about 1/4 to 1/2 turn from being tight. Then I adjusted the power needle out 3 1/2 tur...

440 ic carb adjustment

I am having problems with my carb. I finally am putting a new float, as mine seems to keep filling with gas despite me thinking I am fixing it. Can someone tell me or refer me to instructions on how to properly adjust the power needle and idle. I have the service manuals and thought at one time I re...

440 ic governer shaft

Does anyone know where I can find a governer shaft? I am having my motor rebuilt and the governer is the only thing left to find. This must have been a common problem on the 440's? But never the less I am in need of one a.s.a.p.

Thanks in advance,

For what it's worth, not sure what they cost or if you are wanting to keep it original, but a friend of mine made one out of a cheap pot like you can buy for camping. It not only worked but it looked damn near identical to the original.

440 Rebuild Question???????

My 440 IC is burning a lot of oil through the motor. When it gets warmed up and I start putting it under a strain it blows smoke out the oil breather and sometimes out the oil dipstick. What would be my best bet? Do you think that if I just redo the top end of the motor and replace the seals around ...

440 IC Backfire?

I was doing some work with my 440, taking out some stumps and moving a little dirt when it started acting like it was running low on fuel. It was getting low so I refilled the tank and ran for about 5 min. when it started acting up again. Now I can start it and it will run for a minute or so and the...

2010 icd injector Q's

I put a rebuilt head on my 2010 ICD last year and adjusted the valves and haven't got back to try and bleed the fuel properly once I get to the injectors with the whole bleeding system I see that my injectors are leaking, will this suck enough air to not start around the leaks? And is there any opti...

I was told to not use oil with detergent in these old machines, is there a difference and what is recommended? I wonder if this is causing the blow by? I seem to be burning a lot of oil, but no lack of power that I can tell. Although come to think of it, it pulls hills hard in 2nd gear and really sm...

If you are going to weld on cast refer back to the post on "Broken Steering lever" , I mentioned the best way to weld on cast, and pre post heat is essential as well as having a way for it to cool very, very, slow. Lime works very well for this if you are able to remove the piece in order to get it ...
