Re: John Deere 450b any help would greatly be appreciated
Wet bad.................oil getting in somehow. Check level on final drive and see if it is fine, if so then oil leaking in from tranny side. If not full oil might be leaking in from final drive side. Drain plugs under steering clutch housing, id remove them.

Re: 450 H-L-R Transmission
Couple more things, if you run it that way with that bad bearing you will destroy the oil pump bushing, the clutch oil manifold, and needle bearing on the front of the clutch drum shaft. Also would love to see a picture of that (bolt). Maybe i could tell you what it is if i see it......

Re: 450 H-L-R Transmission
Have to remove the engine, bellhousing, tranny oil pump, transmission front cover, then can unbolt imput bearing quill and pull bearing quill (housing) and imput shaft out toward the front. Bearing held in by snap ring. Takes 1 min to drop new bearing in but 1 month to do the whole disassembly and a...

Re: JD 450 crawler on't stay running
I had the same problem after a total rebuild of my 450. Run great for 15 mins then die. Long story short it was debris in tank blocking fuel line. I would blow air from fuel line at the fuel pump and hear air bubble inside tank, so i figured it was somthing else. But realized that when crawler would...

Re: 450 H-L-R Transmission
I had a bearing retainer in the bottom of my 450 as well....it was from the imput bearing. All the balls stayed in but layed in the bottom of the bearing race. Made a mess of things.

Re: Oiler tube for the ring gear on a 450()
That tube is held at the top by a rubber gromet and by sliding over lube oil line and at the bottom by the little tab attached to the stb side quill. Its a loose fit and it will rattle around some. If it was a tight fit on the pinion gear it would wear it away. You can order a new rubber for the top...

Re: 450(), Replacing the seals on the differential
I just got done with a total rebuild of my 450 loader. Take the top cover off above ring gear and reach in and place shims under ring gear to hold it up while you pull off one quill. The quills come off by screwing in two 3/8 or 5/16 bolts into quills in the corresponding holes..... of course after ...

69 450 alternator wiring
I rewired my 450 loader because the old stuff was brittle and cracked. One question i have is on the back of the original Motorola alternator. Should there be a small jumper wire between the G terminal and the F terminal on the back? My loader is SN 86000ish if that helps. Maybe someone could look o...

Needle valve setting 450 hlr
Hey guys, I have a straight 450 loader with the hlr tranny. I’m doing a major overhaul and need some help. I replaced the clutch oil manifold with a new one. The one setting that my book doesn’t have is the needle valve setting, don’t know how many turns off from bottomed it should be. Does anyone h...

How to hold a 450 pinion shaft from turning?
Hey guys, i am in the process of putting my 450 HLR tranny back together. Got the pinion shaft back in and now trying to find a way to hold it while i torque the pinion nut to 300 foot pounds. The only thing i can come up with is holding one of the gears somehow. Anyone have a easy way of doing this...

Straight JD 450 clutch oil manifold replacement.
Hello, I am in the process of rebuilding a straight 450 loader. I am in the transmission and found out the oil manifold is scored bad. So I have to have it re sleeved or find another one. My question is can I use one out of a 450b? What are the differences between the two? Seems like there are lots ...
