Larry, the steering clutch is made up of a series of fiber disks and steel disks. the fiber disks are "keyed to fit into the shaft leading from the transmission and the steel disks have tabs that fit into the brake drum. If the steering clutch won't declutch there could be 2 reasons first it is out ...

To replace the clutch pak I would suggest that you get a service manual. If you follow the procedure it goes very well. The most challenging part is rotating the final drive to clear the track rail

Steve, I own a 1010 and in the 1010 the only way to replace the steering clutch is to remove the final drive. My understanding is that the 2010 is more husky than the 1010. If the 2010 is anything like the 1010 mechanically I would also consider replacing the brake band when you are in there. I woul...

Dave,
The cause of your machine popping out of 2nd gear is most likely are worn gears. As for lack of power that can be a big area to cover. The first step is get a manual of the unit and start with a tune up. You may want to take a compression reading of the cylinders. You may have a tired engine

Thanks for all the words of wisdom. I found Lavoy's advice of tapering the leading edge a little bit worked wonders. I also found a 6ft 2 X 6 as a lever between the final drive and the track rail useful to push the drive in place. A little wisdom,a 2 X 6 and 45 minutes was all it took to finish the ...

1010 brake replacement

I am in the process of replacing the tranny steering clutches and brakes. So far the project has been going along without any major problems. Today I started to install the final drives and it seems I can't slide the brake drum into the brake band. Does anyone have any words of wisdom to make this p...

I have seen a wide range of pricing for 1010s. Some go as low as scrap value and as high as $6000. Of course at the high end the tractor would need to in outstanding shape. I have seen a lot of dozer that the owners only invested in a coar of paint to make it look good so I would say look beyond the...

Well as you will learn quickly about 1010s The engine is rather unique in that if you need to reline it you would have to do all cylinders because the liners are attached to a deck. If possible I would suggest a compression test or look for visible blow by. As for the rollers, pins and bushings. The...

mine was in rather bad shape when I got it. What you are seeing is 3 years of restoration. I had to rebuild the tracks using conveyer belting. Now there is a company new tracks for them. The ones you saw came from Norway. Norway was the last country to retire them in the mid 60's As for the reel beh...

1944 weasel

I was asked to post pics of my military trucks. This pic is my 1944 studabaker weasel. This is a C model meaning that it swims if it had float tanks and skirts.
