Re: Brake adjustment JD350

I got the reconditioned band from a used tractor parts dealer. No I was not able to compare bands, I had shipped off my cores to be re lined. I have to assume it may have been mislabelled. Are all 350 bands the same size? Or could it be from a 450? I guess I'm going to have to wait for the other reb...

Brake adjustment JD350

Have both finals pulled to replace brake bands and adjust clutches on my 350. Have only one band, other coming from supplier. Reinstalled one side and tightened up the adjuster bolt, seems the bolt runs out of thread before the band is tight enough. Not having done this before, I'm wondering if, wit...

On my 350 the ball joint part of the clutch adjuster broke off flush with the actuating arm. Tried to get a nut welded onto the end of the bolt to remove it but it was just too tight for my mig torch. I noticed that bits of weld were attaching just fine to the arm, so I had to assume it was cast ste...

Bad news, some good!

Well, I spent several days of trickling different concoctions down the bolt guaranteed to free up frozen bolts, rattling it with an impact and finally heating up the bolt head to no avail. I thought I as getting a little freedom and kept wrenching it back and forth till eventually the bolt broke! Th...

350 brake adjustment bolt frozen

My left side brake band adjustment bolt on my straight 350 is frozen. It's hard to put solid torque to it as the end of the brake band can flex a bit. And I sure don't want to break the bolt or strip it! I've sprayed some rust dissolver down the bolt trying not to get it on the band itself. I've bee...

Thanks for the info. We still have some snow on the ground and freezing temps I'm going to wait for some warmer weather. Hopefully we don't get a big dump of snow that I'm going to want to plow! I'm optimistic about getting it done from above. I have a right angle drill that should work. Is that bal...

JD 350 steering lever

I was pushing some snow with my 65 straight 350 with a 6 way on it. I pulled a bunch of right steering lever to dump some snow off the driveway. There was kind of a bang, the lever went slack and the right clutch engaged. Oh crap! I limped her back to the parking spot with a lot of toing and froing!...

Sticky track adjuster on 350 dozer

The left track on my 350 has gotten quite slack and I have'nt been able to get the adjuster to move with a grease gun. I was putting quite a bit of pressure on it and was afraid of blowing seals. I thought about using the hydraulics on the six way blade to assist in breaking the sticky adjuster loos...

Dozer Dog

http://www.jdcrawlers.com/uploads/dsc03310_copy.jpg He's even wearing the right color coat! Goofy dog loves to climb up on the seat, I really have to watch him when I'm operating, that he doesn't get in the way. Had another couple of inches of snow last night. I've got my snowbanks pushed up pretty...

Thanks jdemaris,
I thought the photo would be worth a lot of words!
I will strive to get all the parts and put it back together as Mother Deere intended it to be!
I am continually amazed at how helpful this site can be, especially for us non pros.

That is the same diagram that I have in my manual, although mine says nothing about a restriction indicator. I assume that the parts 5-10 are what make up the indicator. My machine has none of that. There is no left over parts in the reservoir, no metal on the magnetic plug. In my parts book it look...

Thanks jdemaris

I knew someone would know exactly what was happening. I've had the machine for a couple of years and this is the first hydraulic problem I've had. It only gets worked about 50hrs/yr. and most of that is in the winter pushing snow. I would assume the water in the fluid would be condensation and would...

Geyser of hydraulic fluid from my 350

I have an early model 350 with a 6 way blade. Today the temperature was about -10C or around 12F. When I started it up I was surprised to have a geyser of hydraulic fluid come from the hydraulic reservoir! Out of the top where there is a nipple like projection, which I think is a vent. The fluid was...

Picture not all that clear was taken from a video clip. Going along at a good clip in 4th gear! Not something I would do to the old girl on solid ground. In the deeper snow you can actually feel it start to float! Don't even hear much of the typical track clatter when running in the snow. These pict...
