Hydralic Oil Filter Light

Hello. After sitting for several months I cranked up my 1997 455G loader and the Hydraulic Oil Filter light wants to keep coming on. It immediately goes off when you move the loader control lever and the loader or bucket is in motion. It's not low on fluid and I changed the fluid and filter about 20...

Re: 455G Boom Cylinders Hammering Noise

Thanks again for the reply.
I will grease again, this time I will grease with move boom in multiple positions. Maybe that will help distribute grease.

Re: 455G Boom Cylinders Hammering Noise

Thank you for the reply. Pins and bushings are in very good condition. Ironically I just greased it the day this started. I actually over-grease this machine according to the instructions on the door, which calls for 2 pumps ever 100 hours and 2 pumps ever 10 hours on the bucket pins.I grease every ...

455G Boom Cylinders Hammering Noise

Hello all, Loader was working fine and then I noticed a knocking or hammering noise when lifting boom. With engine running it was not obvious to me what this sound was or where it was coming from. After about 30 min or so I finally stopped working for the day and returned loader to put up on blocks ...

Re: Logging cable size, need drawbar pull for 455G

Thank you for the detailed information. You were spot on with the drawbar specs. I have both the TM1404 and TM1403 Technical Manuals and found that they do list the drawbar pulling capacity for the 450G dozer at 24000 which is what you said. I will head your advice on keeping the logs closer to the ...

Logging cable size, need drawbar pull for 455G

Hello, Can anyone supply the approx. drawbar pulling strength of a 1987 455G TC? I have an operator’s manual, but that specification is not listed. I am deciding on size and strength of logging cable needed to make up 1 or 2 short cables 25 ft in length, loop on both ends, and a choker cable. Curren...

Re: 455G cranked then died, fuel supply related

Thanks to everyone’s help I was able to install new transfer pump, cleaned out all the gummed up fuel cutoff valve, all fittings, vents, drains etc. that were also gummed up. Cleaned out the line from tank to pump, drained the tank of old diesel. I learned you have to position cam at just the right ...

Re: 455G Metric thread tap size

I checked the parts catalog on line and looked at a hood bolt and found M10 with 1.5 pitch. M10 can have a 16MM or 17MM head by metric standards (M10 and a couple other sizes use two different head and nut hex sizes). I have a sign in through my local dealer so I can see the info on many such items...

Re: 455G Metric thread tap size

Thank you all for the information. Now I am beginning to understand. I had been using a 5/8 wrench or socket which by the way actually fits, but now I understand the proper size hex is 17 mm What I did not know when I began working on this machine was the fasteners were metric. I picked up various l...

455G Metric thread tap size

I am trying to re-tap the various M10 female threads for accepting new M10 bolts. I thought these were 7/16 NC and taped one wrong The bolts have a 5/8 head. Can anyone tell me what pitch tap to use? The machine is a 1997 455G and these M10 bolts are used in many sheet metal locations. I had a Cat 9...

Re: 455G cranked then died, fuel supply related

Let me begin by apologizing for taking so long to thank you . You have provided great information, 1.I am going to look on my cap for a vent. The system was pressurized. I have a friend who works on equipment who said to drill hole in brass mesh vent in cap instead of cleaning it, however I would ra...

455G cranked then died, fuel supply related

I have a 1997 455G with 1100 hours, that has always cranked easily. This week it cranked up and ran for a minute then suddenly the engine died. I began troubleshooting and the first thing I noticed that when I removed the fuel cap the tank was pressurized. I then checked for fuel going into the pump...

Re: How does this thing work?

I also recently bought a 1997 455G and I am going over it before putting it to work. I purchased Owner,Service, and Test Manual from Ebay . Does your loader have the "warning lights' instrument panel? If so the first thing the manual instructs is to do a bulb check, and there are 2. If all the warnin...
