DrLoch - A photo of the brackets on yours would be great. I am picturing the JD brackets being a lot thicker.

I will check the frame rails for welds/cracks. If I find that both or one frame rail is cracked, are they repairable?

The rear bracket is probably what it is minus the fact that it was probably torched at one point because the j-brackets are not there.

The particular machine has nothing on the back. There is a hitch, counterweight and PTO. That makes sense though say for a backhoe to tie into the loader mount but I would assume the steel to be thicker for a backhoe.

Looking at 450C Loader

Hi all. I hope someone can help me out here on two unknown steel plates I noticed on a 450C loader that I was looking at today. The plate is on both sides of the machine below the battery box and below the hyd control valve compartment. Appears to bolt to loader frame and rear housing. Anyone know w...

Leonard Layton,
Do you know if this threads all the way out or like FL450B said, is there a set screw and 1/4 turn to remove?

450 - Removing Clutch Housing

I am in the process of getting in my hlr trans to redo clutch packs. I have the motor out and almost ready to remove clutch housing but I do not know the best way to remove the hydraulics on the right side (brake side) that goes through the housing. It is real tight between the housing and frame rail.

Is the pinion gear for each clutch pack notched for key to lock to the shaft?

Parting Out a 1966 JD 450 Crawler

I am parting out a good running JD 450 crawler with outside blade. Transmission and steering clutches are bad. Transmission (HLR) will not go into reverse, pressure is good. Steering clutches are not working. Sheet metal and badges are all there. Housing are all good, no broken bolts or cracks. Anyo...

Re: 450 tutourial

[/quote] #1 is the HL-R powershift transmission. Very rugged and also, very expensive to work on. Often, worn HL-Rs work fine when cold, and as they heat up, come to a dead stop. With some machines, it may take an hour or running before the problem shows. Many - when they get like this - go to aucti...

JSVice, I had no problem lifting that section off of my 450 with my FEL (1300# Lift Cap.). Starting to lift that high in the air though made the back end lite.
