Re: Looking for JD 350 steering clutch housing

Have you checked with Lavoy? Have you called any salvage yards? You may want to have your crawler serial number and the casting number that is on your housing in hand. The parts catalog shows a serial number break with two different ones used. I don't remember of hand the difference and am not sure ...

Re: 1968 350 Diesel starter question

Your JD350 service manual, SM2063, should have some info on starter repairs, it will be helpful on the solenoid and Bendix drive if you decide to open it up.

Re: 1968 350 Diesel starter question

It may be as simple as some rust on the solenoid plunger and cleaning the plunger and solenoid will fix it. For lube at the most wipe the surfaces with a rag having a bit of oil on it. You don't want much there or it will collect dust and dirt, leading to sticking. That said. I would recommend you t...

Re: Potential 420c Purchase

Look for a tag on the generator. Delco Remy generators had tags on them (not saying it hasn't been removed or a rebuilt was installed at some point). In general, if the tag has a black background, they are 6 volts. 12-volt tags had a red background. 6 or 12 volts was generally embossed on the tags. ...

Re: 1985 350c isolator

In the online parts catalog, it looks like that flywheel was used in crawler serial number 706658 and the machines after that one. It also was used in the 350Ds.

If you add your general location to your profile someone might happen to know of something in your area.

Re: John Deere Series 350C Winch question/s

Good evening, Just an FYI. This post will likely get moved to the Late Models Board as it relates to a 350 series. This board (Messageboard Q&A and Announcements) is for questions and comments related to function of the boards and related announcements. I replied to your first post and posted the li...

Re: John Deere 450

There should be a spin-on filter in front of the radiator and a cleanable screen in the right side of the transmission behind a three capscrew cover, the transmission must be drained before opening that one up. And you only want to use John Deere Hy-Gard or an equal fluid meeting the JDM J20C spec. ...

Re: John Deere 450

Sounds like you need the proper Operator's and Technical/service manuals (and a parts catalog if you don't want to use the on-line one) for your 450. The technical manual will have the info on checking and setting pressures and you should have it for your transmission overhaul. I expect Lavoy can ge...

Re: 450E reverse HLR pressure seems low

On your #2 item. I am understanding you are talking about adjusting the HLR clutch valve nut adjustment. What manual do you have? I looked at my 450E manual (TM1330OP) for the procedure. Step # 5 says "With both gear shift and H-L-R Levers in neutral and brakes locked, start engine and run at slow i...

Re: John Deere 450

Good morning. Others may disagree, and be along with some other thoughts, but it sounds to me like you have a big issue developing. Binding up and not moving in first gear sounds like possible bearing issues in the transmission which could result in a catastrophic failure. As for the HLR engagement ...

Google drive is his personal file share. It may have had a time limit on it, or he may have "closed" the files with the completion of his project.

Re: ISO JD 350C Rear Cable Winch Model 3305 with fairlead and JD Log Arch # PV498A

Welcome to the Board. Just curious as to why you are looking for a 3305 winch. The 3315 Power winch was the one the 350Cs were generally equipped with and might be easier to find. Below is a link to the online parts catalog for the 350C which includes the winch, fairleads and tractor mounted arch. J...

Re: Identifying JD450 model & year missing SN/VIN

Here are a couple pictures that may help you locate the crawler tag (or rivet holes where it used to be). Those will be two, 1/8" holes, about 3-4" apart horizontally. Where is your reverser lever located? The HLR lever moved from the floor (between the operator's legs to the left armrest at the sam...
