Known brand 15W/40 diesel oil in all but the cars, pick ups, and small engines. I know some fleets run 15W/40 in everything with no issues.

Actually measure the pin hole in the chain rail, the dimension might reveal a clue. I wonder if some one has put 350 chains on your 440IC, those pins are larger OD. Are there any signs of welding on the sprockets?

That should work. Have you checked your local equipment dealers and rental houses? They may have one on the shelf. Cost wise it might be a wash if you don't have to pay any shipping.
