Re: I need Help!!! JD 550G Torque Converter

Good point on possibility of a cracked convertor and the need to check it. Thanks for mentioning it, Jason. I'm curious, are you looking at a hard copy parts catalog or the one on line? I can not seem to spot that seal anywhere but on the page "Torque Converter Pump Drives". And if I search but the ...

Re: I need Help!!! JD 550G Torque Converter

Glad you slept some, I was scratching my head thinking this sounds familiar and had to do some digging to refresh my mind. And found it looks like some emails failed to go through on some things. Maybe it will work out this time. Well if they had put that seal and bearing on the page with the bulk o...

Re: I need Help!!! JD 550G Torque Converter

Hi Darren, Didn't we go through this before? I have a drawing from the TM1403 manual marked up with the seal and bearing numbers. I thought I sent it to you before via email, sorry if I didn't, or it was one of the lost emails we were experiencing at the time. Anyway, I just uploaded it to my galler...

Re: steering clutch adjustment

I think the JD7 gauge works for the 350B steering clutches, but I don't have a manual to confirm that. A search of past posts indicates it is the one people were using. Lavoy, LeonardL, or others will be along to confirm or correct my thought.

Re: 3315 winch question

I agree with Bruce that it looks like two different winches. Or the pictures were taken years apart. It looks to me like the control cable is broken. Part of it is visible connected to the rotary valve with a tail hanging out on the right side of the winch. Does your crawler have the power shaft to ...

Re: 420C and what do I need?

Both reversers are "wet" in the sense that they have oil for lubriction. Your right lever control reverser uses gears, not clutches in it, to change direction and gets lube oil from the transmission. The other reverser, with the control lever on the left, uses clutches inside it to change direction....

Re: 420C and what do I need?

Welcome to the Board. First question is which reverser does your 420C have? Two were use the Gear one had the shifter on the right. The later, wet clutch one had the shifter on the left. You will need the reverser section from a 440 manual if you have the wet clutch reverser. The gear reverser is in...

Re: John Deere 555 transmission leak

Welcome to the board. Your 555 puts you in the newer side machines than most on here. The A in the case of your crawler's serial number stands for loader, per the serial breakdown with the 555 parts catalog. It sounds like you have a leak in the converter area. If you don't have a set of manuals, I ...

Re: Wire Mesh Filter

Peaceful Creek manuals are not what I would call a weak effort of reproducing an original manual. When I said ``I have some of Peaceful Creek's reprints and I think they are pretty good and true reprints of the original manuals'', I meant as reprints they have the same info as the JD manuals, the te...

Re: Wire Mesh Filter

Sorry to hear you're having this problem. Like Bruce I don't find that part number in the 450C parts catalog. I do find it in the catalog for the dozer blades catalog used with the 450 and 450B. Those machines had separate catalogs for the blades and other attachments, unlike the 450C catalog that i...

Re: Wire Mesh Filter

There are some differences in parts catalogs and your printed one (I am guessing you have a printed edition) likely doesn't match the current on line one so knowing if you are looking at blade hydraulic system and the part number might help answer your question. In the on line catalog, section 75 is...

Re: david brown 885g w/loader.hydraulic/tranny 20w30??????

I would try touching base with a Case dealer, since they are "related" and come under Case now as far as I know. I am thinking they might say Hy Tran (Case's brand of Hy Gard) may be acceptable now, I've looked some but I haven't found that in writing yet. That would open up the aftermarket equivale...
