Re: 450C 1976 Steering Brake Band Replacement
I do not have any specs on the thickness. You would need to find someone, preferably a dealer, with a new band to check. The image in your post that I get to open looks like a used band from a parts supplier. What is thickness of your band lining? Is it reasonably the same thickness all around the b...

Re: Block Heater
I have used Kats heaters. The brand has been around for years. In recent years I think they had some difficulties with production (quantity mostly I think) and I believe the brand was purchased by someone else and I think the product line is reduced from what they had years ago. I have looked for so...

Re: 450C 1976 Steering Brake Band Replacement
This sounds like you do not have the correct manual for your crawler. WHAT DO YOU HAVE FOR A MANUAL (Publisher, title and any identifying numbers)? I have posted several times that John Deere publication TM1102 is the technical manual for a North American 450C (and at least once suggested you check ...

Re: 1010 diesel crawler loader water pump part # at13878
When you asked about this the other day you said it was sold to you as a 1964. A 1964 would be in the higher serial number range and should use the AT14998 water pump by the parts catalog. The 10001 through 21900 serial numbers cover 1961- mid 1962 according to the serial numbers listed for the 1010...

Re: JD450 C 1976 Engine Removal Issue
I don't see any special tools related to those capscrews in the technical manuals I have available for a couple crawlers of the 450 model group. You are not encountering anything mechanics don't regularly face. Having been a heavy equipment mechanic for a number of years I have a number of sockets, ...

Re: 750J track tensioner
Welcome to the Boards. With a 750J (built 2007 to 2012) you are very much beyond the new side of crawlers typically found here. The 450E, with the H-L-R transmissions is about the new end of the majority of the machine vintages here. Hopefully someone will have some direct hands-on experience with o...

Re: 1964 1010 diesel crawler loader water pump
AT12862 is for a gas engine per the parts catalog. AT13878 (sub for AT13368) is the water pump for the diesels, serial numbers 10001 to 21900. It looks like this is the one you need. AT14998 is the water pump for serial number 21901 and after. Here is a link to the Parts Catalog. 1010 series Crawler...

Re: Do these have value for parts?
Welcome to the boards. The entire 2010 series, crawlers and wheel tractors both, were/are not the desired models JD made. Yes, it might have some parts value, if someone needs a part and that part is good on his crawler. With your description that it was damaged in a fire and has been setting outsid...

Re: 1010 diesel cawler loader1964 model boom lift cylinders
Welcome to the Boards. The loaders and attachments were separate parts catalogs, from the crawler parts catalog, back in the years of your machine. I don't find an 810 or 812 loader in the JD parts catalogs. There was an 831 used on the 440Cs. There is a 1010 loader attachment shown for the 1010 cra...

Re: 1966 JD 350 Steering Clutch Fork
Welcome to the Boards. A part number check of that part number shows it was used on just the 350 and 350B crawlers. I suggest giving Lavoy a phone call, 701 361-1006, during CST business hours. He works on JD crawlers, sells parts, and provides this site. If he doesn't have one. he may have a source...

Re: John Deere 450c dozer transmission issues
SChunter1991, I should have noted before that if you found a lot of oil in the clutch housing, it could have contaminated the engine clutch. The clutch might grip when cold and slip as it warms. Install your pressure gauge and leave it in while running your crawler to see if the pressure is dropping...

Re: John Deere 450c dozer transmission issues
Oil in the engine clutch area can come from a leaking engine rear main seal (oil will be the same color as the engine oil on the dipstick) or the input shaft seal of the transmission (oil will be the color of the oil in the transmission). There should be a cotter pin hanging out of a hole in the cen...
