Re: Blade skid pad shoes?

Sorry but the shoes are not a "set it and forget it" control. Even with the shoes on the blade you are going to have to work the blade control. About the only place I have seen the shoes do much is on frozen ground. On frozen ground the blade will generally skim along, and the shoes only help preven...

Re: Blade skid pad shoes?

Oops, got my reply to this tagged on to your other thread. Edit: Here is a copy of it. You can use the online parts catalogs at https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/ Enter 350B to get the parts catalog for your crawler. Your blade may be a 6305 (inside the tracks mounting or a 6310 for a blade mounte...

Re: Service & parts manuals

Welcome to the Boards. The first thread on the John Deere crawler FAQ's Board here has a listing of 350 model serial to year break down for the different series of 350s. You will see your 350B serial number falls in the 1972 build year. The E means it left the factory as a diesel with an inside moun...

Re: Most desired older gas machine

420, 430 or 440 would be likely choices. I had a 430 with the 62 blade, wet clutch reverser and a Gearmatic 8A winch. It was handy to get around in the woods with.

The trick can be finding one with a good undercarriage.

Re: Mounting a 9300 backhoe

Welcome to the boards. I don't have a good answer for you. The 550G parts Catalog does not include a backhoe as shown for earlier models. The G series is somewhat different than earlier crawlers. A John Deere brochure on a 550G shows the hoe as optional equipment, but no model number for the hoe. I ...

Re: 450 C 1975 losing drive power when climbing

271126 is a 1977 serial number, by the list on the FAQ Board here. You could have clutch troubles mechanical at the engine or hydraulic in the HLR. You need a copy of the John Deere technical manual, publication # TM1102, for your 450C. There are adjustments and pressures to check. The manual will h...

Re: She's running but clutch doesn't do anything

Have you pulled the pressure plate off the flywheel to see if the clutch disc is rusted to the flywheel or pressure plate? Are all the clutch fingers in place and about the same height? Another possibility is some of the clutch material has broke off the disc and piled up between the flywheel and pr...

Try what I told you about pushing on something to check when/if the steering clutch disengages, then go from there.

Re: 1976 JD 550 dozer

The video that opens when I click your link is of a 450G, not a 450B. The B brake system most likely would not be like your 550, the 450G brakes should be similar. I can't say the guy is right or not, for your issues. You said the left stick has very little action. Does that mean it moves very littl...

Re: 1976 JD 550 dozer

Welcome to the Boards. A bit of housekeeping. Posts about your 550 should be made on the Late Models Board, this Early Models Board is for the 2010 crawlers and those built prior to that model. A moderator will likely move it over there when they see it. As for your steering issue, I don't know how ...

Re: Straight 450 Left Steering Lever Issue

Start with the complete steering clutch and brake adjustment, following the procedure in the manual. You will be able to see some when you have it open to do the adjustment. If you have access to a bore scope type camera you might be able to look around a bit more.
