replacing 450 oil pump
does anybody know of a good source for a engine oil pump for a 450 straight? the pump casting # is t26320 and the engine block # is ar59065. the engine serial # is missing and I believe I have a later style block but the oil pump is the early type pickup according to my jd manual. been having all ki...

450 steering clutch rebuild
so finally got the steering clutch out. What a job. the fiber discs do not appear to have much wear but the steels are rusted pretty bad on mostly one side. I have been using electrolisys to derust them. so a couple of questions , am I being completely stupid to attempt to reuse the discs? does anyb...

450 hydraulic hoses
hi guys, I'm replacing a bunch of hydraulic hoses on my loader and backhoe today. do I need to bleed air out of them before final fitting hookup? with some of the hose run lengths it seems that an air pocket in the ram would not go back to the reservoir when cycled.

Re: What is the Cut-Off Temperature for Bulldozers?
the jd manual calls for atf at cold temps, it has a low viscosity and the proper additives for hydraulic seals and such. DO NOT put diesel or any engine type oil into a hydraulic system, it will destroy seals and does not lubricate the internals properly.also not a good idea to mix hydro fluids try ...

Re: 450 diesel engine no serial #
I put 10/30 from tractor supply into it along with lucas oil .I didn't want to put high dollar stuff in until I figured out the coolant contamination problem.today I'm adjusting the oil pressure regulating valve a little bit. guess I could be running a heavier weight oil in it which would probably b...

Re: Body more worn out than my equipment
hey look at the bright side, in our later years we substitute experience and knowledge for pure brawn. I really wish I knew in my 20s what I know now, hopefully in my sixties ill be twice as smart! but i hear ya on the chronic back pain.

Re: 450 diesel engine no serial #
we got the machine running and after a little clutch adjustment got her to drive, I did however not complain when the driver said he was going to winch it onto the trailer! so far not losing any coolant but I am concerned about the oil pressure . it reads 25 psi at idle and 40 or so wot . the serial...

450 diesel engine no serial #
Hi guys, got my project machine home and have started going thru it. the serial # is missing off the engine block and my shop manual references some different specs for early model vs late model engines. the tractor serial # is T5E3M 066290T. the engine appears to be the original factory install. do...

Re: starting 450 after 15 years
I put 1 1/2 gallons of coolant into the radiator to fill it up. drained the oil sump and got 1 1/2 gallons of coolant out before oil started coming out. for a second almost wondered if I had opened a coolant drain of some sort ? water level has stayed constant in the radiator for 24 hours now so may...

Re: starting 450 after 15 years
thanks for the good advice, I didn't give the crank and cam much thought but I see how that would be way more expensive than some rings and new liners. I like the zip tie tip. I will try to pull the injectors out to lube the rings but if I cant I still have to start it to get it where the tow compan...

starting 450 after 15 years
hi guys , just bought a 450 loader w 9300 hoe that has sat for 15 years. owner said steering power cylinder and brake band is shot on the left side. he said he found water in the oil when he ran it 3 years ago. I'm thinking completely purge old fuel , change engine oil, fill radiator with fresh cool...
