450c or d?

What is A major difference between a 450c and d? No serial numbers any where other than the engine. The oriGinal under carriage I assume is at 50% based on my owners manual. Have had the dozer now for 3 years. Replaced rebuilt a final drive three years ago after I bought it. And last year I rebuilt ...

Re: Pulling power 450c

It is a cat D7 or D6. It hasn't ran in 20 years or so. And haven't gone to look at it in several years. would be pulled about about 4 miles. Road is flat, dirt with a couple of gradual embankments to go up and down. Of course the cat has the blade down, and would have to bleed off hydraulics and lift.

Re: 450C near death accident

This past weekend at the ranch my 7 year old grandson and son came to visit. Grandson likes to jump on equipment to pretend. Any how, I usually disconnect the battery on the 450 for battery drain and low usage during winter months. He climbed around and of course shifting gears etc. A few days later...

If you repair the final drive yourself, cost you around 1700$ with a couple of extra tools.

Re: Track pin removal

I did mine last summer, easier than you think if you build a 7 style pin punch that is in the manual. set the track pin at 10 oclock position, cut a two inch pipe dia. length from rear steel portion from ripper area about 10 to 12 ". You have to put this in place to take the shock with sledge hammer...

Re: Removing skid plate and belly pan changing reverser filter

I use double side by side ties on each track strapped with lag bolts. works great gives 8 more inches. plenty of room for jacks etc. on a 450C. 450 pan weighs about 150 lbs maybe.
