Re: 350c is weak in forward strong in reverse
Ok. Now that makes sense. If I may ask one more question, why would "popping" the clutch pedal result in an immediate engagement forward?

Re: 350c is weak in forward strong in reverse
Thanks Lavoy. If that fixes the problem, that would make me a happy person. I rebuilt the reverser a couple of years ago, due to an exploded bearing, and it has run beautifully ever since. So all new seal and bearings. I'm actually stopping by John Deere today to pick up a new filter. But I do have ...

350c is weak in forward strong in reverse
Ok guys. Loving this site and all the help I've recieved. Need some experienced advice here. I have a 1981 350c. When first starting up it runs well. After about an hour...sometimes longer...the forward gear gets very weak. It'll take a few seconds to finally engage, but eventually it does engage. I...

Re: 3315 winch freespool not working
Woo hoo! Its working now. Two hoses on the spool valve were switched. Thanks, Bruce. I researched your post from a different thread detailing the hose hookup. Worked like a charm. Also, the winch is responding almost immediately now. No delays.

Re: 3315 winch freespool not working
Thanks Bruce. I'm looking into the hoses / valve now. But you said something that caught my attention. You indicated a quick operational reaction. When engaging my winch in, the brake releases quickly but it takes several seconds before the winch starts moving. Is that normal?

Re: 3315 winch freespool not working
Bruce, No, I haven't had the control valve apartyes. One step at a time, I guess. I thought I was getting ready to test the "freespool" pressure (from underneath) but I guess I had already checked it from the test port on the quill. And it read zero. Didn't even blip. Looks like I'm digging into the...

Re: 3315 winch freespool not working
Bruce! It's good to hear from you buddy. Thank you for answering my question. I've never had this winch apart so I wasn't able to visualize what was happening. If it's a dead space and you don't think it's causing my issue, I'll proceed to removing the control valve and hoses to look for obstruction...

3315 winch freespool not working
Good evening. I have a 3315 winch that I've recently installed on my 81 model 350C. I'm going to try to post this in bullet points format. 1. "Winch in" works fine with 900 psi. 2. "Free spool" doesn't work at all. Tested against a tree with no unwind 3. Took quill off. Ensured the spring anchor pin...

Re: 350c winch install
Jim, thank you for the info. I'll do some digging and see what I can come up with. I actually called j-k equipment after you suggested it the first time. They didn't have what I was looking for. I can tell you they were super friendly and extremely courteous. That being said, I have a friend who is ...

Re: 350c winch install
Follow up: Raising the fuel tank allowed enough clearance for the winch to be installed. Although I had to remove the drain fitting from the sump and replace it with a plug. There wasn't enough room due to the filter. I also had to extend the fuel lines so they would reach the tank. A few fittings l...

Re: 350c winch install
Good morning. After a couple of phone calls I think I've figured out the solution. An old school mechanic at a local John Deere dealership suggested I try raising the fuel tank to make room for the filter. I searched a bunch of images online, and found several 350c's with winches and some of the fue...

Re: 350c winch install
Bruce, I did look at the same idea you had. But there are only 2 bolt holes on the "passenger" side of my housing. Not 3. Also, if you look closely at my photo vs. the one with the rotary valve, the valve is too far to the right. My filter sets directly above the winch PTO gear. The rotary valve is ...

Re: 350c winch install
Unfortunately I dont. I'll have to take a picture tomorrow and post it. I can confirm that the sump is offset to left of the fuel tank.

Re: 350c winch install
I can't seem to get a picture to load. But the tag says 3315. And the PTO gear is offset to one side and lines up with the PTO shaft on the 350. The mounting brackets are present as well. I've actually found a few pics online that show the filter on the left side of the winch. Which places it in dir...
