Re: Repacking Cylinders

I have a 580D backhoe, the bolts are so difficult to break lose because of locktite. The heat will soften the locktite, making the bolt easier to remove. Something else I have done is to connect the shaft back to the machine, with a block of wood under it to protect the shaft, then use the socket, b...

How wide is the blade? Can a 16 foot trailer make it in?

Re: Steam Boilers

Having worked in the power industry and around Steam Units for many years, it is a very powerful source. It can be very dangerous also, surprisingly at lower pressures!

Re: carb problem

Lavoy is correct, originally the venturi fits tightly. I believe over time the venturi relaxes and loses the tight fit, that is why I used the sealer and it cured my problem. I believe the venturi is aluminum or pot metal while the carburetor body is cast iron.

Re: carb problem

I believe I used permatex aviation gasket sealer. I used it in the past for Volkswagen engine cases and it worked great, I still have the same can from over 40 years ago! I wanted to use something impervious to gasoline but removable in case I needed to take it apart again. When you take the carbure...

Re: carb problem

I had the same problem with a marvel-sheibler carburetor on a different make of crawler. Since you had the carburetor apart, is the venturi removable? The problem I had is sealer is needed where the venturi seats. The area around the venturi vents to the atmosphere, so if it is not properly sealed, ...

The oil pan/bellhousing combination reminds me of the Hercules 4 cylinder engines in the cleteac Oliver crawlers.

Re: Case Backhoe Question

I can second Dale at Tractor stuff. Very good to deal with, reasonable prices, new and used parts and very knowledgeable. Back to your question, to release the latch, could you use a come-along to release the tension? or back the dipper against a tree, then trip the release? I did a similar thing on...

Hood

The 440 IC and the 440 ICD hood dimensions are the same, the cutouts for the intake and exhaust are in different locations. The door for the radiator filler is in a different location also as I recall.
