Re: How do I drain the fuel sump with backhoe still on?
Sorry for my tardy reply. The weather here has been awful and now it's warmed up enough to try some stuff. Turns out there was a bunch of algae or other shit in the tank. The screen for the outlet was plugged up. Couldn't get that dang screen out but ended up blowing air through and cleaning her out...

Re: How do I drain the fuel sump with backhoe still on?
That's what I've been doing as well however my filter is no longer filling up. There must be a blockage somewhere.

How do I drain the fuel sump with backhoe still on?
My 81 JD450C has the backhoe on it and I can't get to the sump drain at the bottom of the tank. There is no way to reach the drain cock by hand. Not enough space anywhere around it. Is there any trick to getting easy access?

Does fuel filter need to be full
I am having issues with my machine randomly stalling out but restarting without a problem. One thing I noticed is that the primary fuel filter doesn't fill completely (stays about 1/3 full. I seem to recall that when I replaced it and primed it a while ago, it filled and then came out the bleed scre...

Re: Exhaust leak from turbocharger adapter Jd 450C
Thanks Jim and Bruce. I will try moving the elbow closer. If that fails, I will replace. Thanks for the heads up Jim on the correct forum section. I read the description of the early model section and it said it included up to 2010 crawlers. I didn't realize that's a model, not a year. Will post cor...

Re: Diesel spraying from one injection line at the bottom of the fuel injection pump
Yup it was just the washers. Simple fix. Should have known. This machine is new to me and I feel I am a bit out of my wheelhouse working on it so I thought I'd check before doing anything. Thanks for the help guys.

Exhaust leak from turbocharger adapter Jd 450C
I have an exhaust leak from the adapter of my turbocharger. The adapter moves freely (spins and even shifts left/right. This doesn't create any seal and therefore a lot of exhaust escapes before the elbow fitting and out the end of the pipe. This has resulted in a lot of black soot all over the engi...

Re: Diesel spraying from one injection line at the bottom of the fuel injection pump
Thanks for the info guys. I will swap out the washer. Seems like this would have been a good place for John Deere to use an O-ring or something.

Re: What do I use to lockout my backhoe?
Thanks for the insight guys. @greg, do you know a part number? I have the loader version and can't find any reference to that part in the book.

Diesel spraying from one injection line at the bottom of the fuel injection pump
I have fuel spraying out of one of the lines right off of the fuel injector pump. I have taken the line off and cleaned it up. It was pretty clean checked the washer and retightened it back up to 35 lb-ft as per the technical manual but it is still spewing. In fact, after I cleaned it up it is spewi...

What do I use to lockout my backhoe?
What do I use to lockout my 9300 backhoe?
Nothing came with the machine and the parts manual had no reference to it. I grabbed a hitch pin to keep it from swinging left/right but the bracket to keep the boom from extending is rectangular. See photo link https://photos.app.goo.gl/U8LrnUPffQk9SvSM7

Re: Regular Hy-Gard or Low Viscosity Hy-Gard
Better than what came out, I expect. I have seen some real muck come out of machines where pure, no additive, mineral oil would have been a ultra major improvement. (!) Yup. Thick, grey, pepto-bismol is what came out originally. Anything will be an improvement. Thanks for your input, Stan. Much app...

Re: Regular Hy-Gard or Low Viscosity Hy-Gard
Thanks for the quick reply, Stan. Sounds like it is probably best that I drain it and do it right. An expensive lesson to learn to read the labels. Will I run into trouble if I there is a residue left from the low-vis after draining? I am not sure if there is an additives in it that are not compatib...

Regular Hy-Gard or Low Viscosity Hy-Gard
I have a (new to me) 1981 450C and I am currently doing maintenance (Draining all of the fluids). The manual calls for J20A or J14C in pretty much everything. When speaking with one dealer in town, they said to use the regular hygard, not the low-viscosity. I purchased what they had left in stock bu...
