Re: 350 ROPS

Jeff mine is a 1967 350 with a logging pkg. Which I assume is original. My tube is 2- 3/8 in O.D. on the cage and risers. I have 35-1/2" from the top of the arm rest steel to the underside. Mesh is 2" square openings using 1/4" dia. wire. There is a smaller mesh mounted over it but I think it was ad...

Re: Straight 450 Engine Oil Milky

Cordlesscarpenter The kit I used was RE527293. One thing that didn't come with was the piston pins. I forgot I bought them separarely until I was looking through my records for the kit number for you. Didn't really need to but figured I'd replace them since I was that far in to it. My engine block h...

Re: Straight 450 Engine Oil Milky

The mains are inside the crankcase. They are replaced in similar fashion as the connecting rod bearings. I bought a cylinder liner puller also off of ebay from a gentleman in South Carolina. It consists of a frame that rests on top of the block with a piece of all thread that extends down into the c...

Re: Straight 450 Engine Oil Milky

On the 410 backhoe I was able to do the work from below with the oil pan pulled and from above with the head pulled. Not sure with a dozer. Plenty of room underneath a backhoe to maneuver around. My crank measured out okay so I left that in place. Yes the liners come with the o rings. Everything nee...

Re: Straight 450 Engine Oil Milky

I had this issue on my 4219 engine on a late 70's JD 410 backhoe. After exhausting all the easy checks it ended up being pitted and perforated cylinder liners. Bought an inframe engine rebuild kit and good to go. Liners, pistons, rings, piston rod bearings, and bolts, main bearings, head gasket, hea...

Re: 1st major repair question

I just did mine on my 350 about a month ago. Same issue. It was worn thin and burst. I could see multiple brazing locations on mine so instead of taking a chance I made the choice not to re use it. I cut it out with a sawzall. I Replaced it with a high pressure hydraulic hose which is working great....

Re: Looking for 450 tool tray pictures or measurements

That is amazing work. I wish I had a 450 so I could buy one. Then again I probably wouldn't want to use it for fear of beating it all up. Thanks for sharing this journey, I really enjoyed following it.

Re: 350 Steering clutch driveshaft

So I took my measurements. I inserted the clutch drive shaft into the hub (differential) inside the dozer without the washers inserted. I then measured from the mating surface where the final drive unit will mount back on to the dozer to the clutch drive shaft face that the pilot bearing will be con...

Re: 350 Steering clutch driveshaft

As I said in the original post. These are inside the dozer where the steering clutch driveshaft slides into when you attach the complete unit back onto the dozer. They are inside the hub (think differential on a car- deere calls it a hub). I am going to take some measurements and decide at that poin...

Re: 350 Steering clutch driveshaft

They don't fit around or attach to anything in there. They are just standing up. I assume what I am seeing inside the the hub when I look in from the left side is the end of the right side clutch driveshaft. So these would be standing up between the ends of the 2 driveshafts when I put the left side...

350 Steering clutch driveshaft

I have a straight 350. I am replacing the steering clutch and brake band. Upon removal of the steering clutch drive shaft I found 2 round washers standing vertically back to back inside the dozer in the hub assembly. I do not see these washers in any of the manuals nor any reference to them. It is a...

Steering clutch drive shaft 350 straight

Can anybody tell me the factory diameter of the small pilot bearing shaft on the end of the steering clutch drive shaft. Mine mikes to about .527", the i.d. on a new pilot bearing is around .59 inches. Upon removal I found a sleeve/bushing over the shaft which leads me to believe my shaft is worn an...

Re: Replacing cylinder liners cracked block

No leads but B Town is correct. If it is a 4219 engine Deere did use them in other equipment. I beleive the 2010 tractor and I have a early 80's 410 backhoe with that engine. I rebuilt the engine last year.

Re: 3315 Winch Hydraulic Valve

I have a 1967 straight 350 with a 3315 winch with that same spool valve mounted under the seat. It is connected the way your picture shows. It works correctly although there is some hesitation to it, a time lag between operating the lever and the winch responding. I'm guessing low pressure or dirty ...
