Just wanted to update everyone... the transmission was bad in my dozer and i got lucky and found a good used one locally. All back in and up and running.

Dumb question but if my doze does not have reverse in the transmission only through the reverser.... and my second and reverse gear is bad, what would happen if i replaced my second gear only with the second and reverse sliding gear? Would it not affect anything since i wouldnt be shifting it into r...

Im ready to pull the tranny. Down to the last four bolts. I am just wondering if i can jack up the reverser and engine to get the trans to clear the rear crossbar? I have the service manual but it is not very specific in this area. Thanks guys.

Finally reached tranny. The bearings and gears are torn up. Any advice on purchasing new gears and bearings? Also how hard is it to rebuild the trans?

Update, Currently have rops, both final drives, tanks, and battery box removed from dozer. I believe the problem exists within the transmission. Should have the trans pulled out by subday afternoon. The dozer is an inside mount six way blade. I have approximately 10 hours into the teardown so far. 3...

I will be tearing into the dozer toward the end of the week. Will let everyone know what the results are.

Ok so i messed with dozer today. Checked both brake bands and theu were fine. Now the dozer barely moves in reverse during 1st and 2nd gear. Still fine in third. When i put the shuttle shift back to neutral while in reverse i can hear grinding for one to two seconds while whatever shaft stops spinni...

Do the pressure gauges need to be hydraulic gauges when checking pressure in the reverser? I will check pressures and pull inspection plate off in rear of dozer and let you know what i find. Thanks again.

Thank you all for the insight. I drove the dozer up to my shop in Forward only from the woods. I checked all fluids even changed reverser fluid and filter looming for shavings. Nothing was found. I cleaned the machine up replaced fluids and tried to movie it in forward and reverse in all gears. It m...

Thank you jason. I will try all gears today. The dozer steers fine and drives fine in forward. The reverser also engages properly. This happened quickly, not over time.
