Re: 450C not moving
I don't have a good snapshot out of the manual but my dozer had a similar issue last year and it ended up that I needed to adjust the clutch tension bolt that's under the floorboard on the left side. Maybe someone can take a snapshot out of the manual on where this is located. I have had to adjust i...

450c alternator wiring
I thought I knew which wires go to which post and now I’m questioning it. See attached picture. 1978 450c. Ideas?

Re: 450c fuel tank sump
Digging up an old thread...does anyone know what thread size the fuel sump drain is? The original plumbing from mine was removed and someone just replaced it with a pipe plug but I can't tell what size it is. I plan to replace with a street 90 and small ball valve for draining.

Re: 450C near death accident
I really appreciate all of the support from you guys. I wanted to give a quick update. After 8 surgeries and a lot of PT, I'm walking close to normal and just wearing 1 AFO brace on my left leg/ankle. I'll probably have 1 more surgery in the spring to make it where I don't have to wear that brace th...

Re: 450C drive lagging then nothing
Wanted to post a quick follow up to this. Got the lever linkages adjusted per spec and the clutch and hydraulic pressure per spec and all is well. Snappy shifts. Thanks for the info

Re: 450C drive lagging then nothing
Thanks Jim. I will take the book with me and start running through the checks next time I go. I did replace the transmission screen and filter last summer when I changed all fluids and filters. The sump screen wasn't very dirty then but I put a new one in anyway. If I'm remembering correctly I used ...

450C drive lagging then nothing
Over the past few weeks my dozer has been lagging for a few seconds after putting shifter in gear before it starts pulling. This happens regardless of rpm. Maybe worse at lower rpms but hard to tell. I checked trans fluid a week ago and it was low. Filled it back up to within tolerance and it didn’t...

450C brush screens
My '76 450C has the rear brush screen on it but not the side ones. I would like to add side brush screens. Unless I'm missing it, they do not show up on the JD parts catalog and I don't even want to know what they would cost from JD if you could still get them. Has anyone had any luck purchasing the...

Re: JD 450C 3325 Winch issue
Mine had a similar issue. I pulled the filter screen off and could not get it cleaned sufficiently so I just replaced it. It's a pretty inexpensive part. I installed the new screen, new fluid, and the winch worked fine after that. Someone also made the suggestion of dumping a bottle of seafoam in wi...

Re: 450C intermittent start issues then nothing
Thanks Jim. I'll give that a shot. I have installed the correct H-L-R plate with flip gate since the accident. That could be what is causing this since it's holding that shifter in 1 location now.

450C intermittent start issues then nothing
I have a 450c and since I've had it the starter button would not do anything for maybe 5-15 times then would eventually engage the starter and the machine would start right up. Every time I pushed the starter button and it wouldn't start the machine, I could see the ammeter drop slightly. That chang...

Re: 450C near death accident
Thank you guys so much for all the input and spreading the word about safety around these machines. I feel extremely fortunate to be here and not leave my wife to raise our 20 month old son by herself. My son is awesome and I loved spending time with him before the accident but now when I spend time...

Re: 450C near death accident
Leonard, Thanks so much for the write up and I am more than happy for people to be preachy (not that I took your post that way) if it means it will keep someone from being hurt or killed. My intention in writing the original post was to make people think twice about their safety measures and I hope ...
