Re: Rebearing bevel gear shaft- 440 ic
Update- got the cluster gear for the power shaft back from machinest, after i installed it, i have .015 end play on this gear and .003 preload on shaft bearings. Hoping the end play on gear will allow more oil to get to bearings inside this gear . Also i cut little grooves in washer on back side of ...

Re: She's running but clutch doesn't do anything
After you get done checking and repairing as Jim has sugested, and you have an afternoon you need something to do, maybe check your tracks, I think they are on backwards, the grouser should come over idler first ?
Just saying.

An update to my request for thickness of gaskets on bevel gear bearing quills. I made my own(.029 thick) will allow that for ea side. Also when i went to install power shaft ( 5 spd trans ) to set up pre load, found cluster gear would start to seize, removed all gears from this shaft, reinstalled an...

Rebearing bevel gear shaft- 440 ic
On a 440 ic- 442172 bevel gear bearing quills, does anyone know how thick the original m811t gaskets are. If I knew that, it might save me from removing the side bearings one more time.
I am rebearing the bevel gear assembly( actuall the whole transmission)
Thank you

Re: Main Bearing
I have a set of rod and main bearings, they are from my 440 ic gas, they are brand new, i ended up with 2 sets for my rebuild.
I will check tomorrow and see what size they are, maybe you could check and see if they are the same for a 440 gas, and your 1010?

Re: Safety Block - Tracks Seizing
Maybe drain left hand final drive and see if there is any chunks of metal come out. Have a low walled drain pan that will hold about 1 gallon. Not sure how much oil for sure, but 1 gal is close. Maybe drain right also( in a separate pan) so you can see each and keep them separate.

Re: Crawler Service Manual and Parts Catalog list
Stan, thanks for the list( that takes a lot of time) I have that SM- JD 2037 for 2000 series machines, and I don’t see that number in your list?? It is a JD publication and came with my 440ic (442172) when I bought crawler. Don’t know why previous owner had it with the 440ic manuals, parts, service,...

That sounds better! Yes install the washer and your 3 thin shims, then let us know what your pressure becomes!
