Re: Late Model vs Early Model

Weirdly I thought my '66 450, would of been early model, but I learned not too long ago I was wrong. I'm for late model dozers, although I know literally nothing of the early models. After I get my 580sk back up n running, then I'm going to tackle my 450 the winch needs a overhaul and the right brak...

Re: Clutch and brake adjustments

I thought mine had the hlr trans? I mean it has the selector in the middle. What makes it the constant mesh? Man I'm lost with this dozer, first Deere and first piece of tracked equipment. Honestly figuring out my 580sk was way easier.

Re: Clutch and brake adjustments

Yes, that's the blade I have. So that isn't the original blade for that dozer?

Re: Manual for 450 dozer

Anyone buy manuals from farm manuals fast? It's about $30 cheaper than peaceful Creek?

Re: Clutch and brake adjustments

It's a manual 4? way, there's 3 pin slots down each side, than it has tapered locks near the blade end of the arms to then tilt. There's 4 speeds on the left fender, low, high, neutral, and reverse between your feet. A pto/winch engagement lever by the right brake pedal. I'll have to get the serial ...

Re: Clutch and brake adjustments

It's a regular 450 so somewhere in the 60's I believe. Which made me assume early model. *Doh. Honestly I never looked hard enough for a manual. It has been on the back burner due to other projects and life. Like right now I have my backhoes transaxle on the bench to repair the brakes. Also would I ...

Clutch and brake adjustments

I got a 450 dozer in the recent past. I believe everything needs adjusted on it. When switching directions it grinds as it does when changing gears, and you can't get the pto to engage with it running. Also my right brake appears to do nothing. I have found an old 440ic manual, but haven't found a 4...

Re: Manual for 450 dozer

Would I just get them from my local John Deere dealer or should I look online for them?

Manual for 450 dozer

I recently got a jd 450. So far I've found the winch needs rebuilt, new PTO coupler, and either right side steering clutch or brake band. I'm a very competent he truck mechanic, but have no knowledge of tracked equipment, so I need to get a manual.
