Update... So i never could get that steel piping out of the tower... But upon closer inspection i could see just a bit of oring squished out of the fitting up in there. Went by my local JD dealer. I tried for hours to wiggle that s pipe out of the tower support. Absolutely no luck. An experienced JD mechanic told me that the hidden end of the boom hoses are made with o-rings and should seal with just a crows foot inside the tower, not to remove the pipe. I can get one to seal but the other on...

That is correct, the big cylinders that move the main loader arms. I just dont know how to tighten the hose that goes on the cylinder, the end that connects to the pipe end that is up in the pocket. I cant get those pipes out. Crows foot? Homemade crows foot type tool??

Digging up an old one... I replaced both of my boom cylinder hoses last fall (left side). It does have the spin on filter. The filter is behind the front grill on mine.

1979 450C track loader. Hydraulic system seems to work great...but it pushes oil out of the top of the tank. Enough that it runs down on the track. I assume the tank is pressurized? Maybe I need a new tank cap? When I get off the machine and it's hot, removing the cap verifys there is some pressure ...

Well, pulled the tank petcock...nothing, so I knew I was on the right track. Unscrewed the screen. It looked like it was covered in dark chocolate peanut butter! Blew it out, reinstalled lines, bled air from system and she is running great again. Thanks for the help!

So yesterday I went to the machine to move it to a good spot to work on it. Ran like a champ for about 5 mins....then right back to heavy sputtering. Cut it off, popped the fuel filter off and installed new one. Went to manually prime the with the fuel transfer pump and could only get spurts of fuel...
