Re: Brake band dragging on a 450()

You probably have this fixed by now, but I am having similar issues so i thought I would throw my 2 cents in. I purchased after market bands and drums for my 350B. The bands that were on mine had to be destroyed to get them out due to pins and bolts being seized so I couldn't really compare them. Af...

Re: 350 B Injector Pump Roosa

Update: I have it working, I pulled the main lift cylinder to get a better look as the bucket is most of the way down. I can see that there is no direct linkage to the fuel metering valve. It is operated to "Throttle up," from a light spring from the linkage to the cable and governor levers Not bein...

Re: 350 B Injector Pump Roosa

Of course I will talk to the shop, which is a Large John Deere Dealership in Michigan. While it only has 250ish hours it has been over 5 years or so. I know what they will say, pull it off and bring it in. They will want to rebuild it again for another $1100, which is not the problem as much as the ...

350 B Injector Pump Roosa

When I stopped operating my 350B Diesel before the complete rebuild it would not start. Somewhere I read it could be the fuel shut off. Since the solenoid was working properly, I used the suggestion of manually working the linkage that the solenoid operates. So I popped the top and It seemed to be s...

Re: 350B Diesel Engine Oil

Thanks again, someday when I quit building I will post some pics. Right now I have to hit the garage for the afternoon. Again thanks a lot, I have a tendency to believe things are right until proven not to be so lengthening this tube would have caused me some considerable grief without knowing it wa...

Re: 350B Diesel Engine Oil

Thanks Leonardt, great info. Lets take this in reverse. The pan looks correct as you indicated. While waiting for responses I looked in my parts cat to see there were several tubes depending on serial numbers, while all of them used the same dipstick. I cannot find a number on the tube but the dipst...

Re: 350B Diesel Engine Oil

Thanks for the response, the pan looks like new, I cleaned and painted it during this process so am sure it has not been caved in. The dipstick has the proper part number engraved so I don't think that is the problem but the tube cannot be verified. Unless of course someone can measure one known to ...

Re: 350B Diesel Engine Oil

I will check into the different pan or different engine. Would it surprise anyone that they made both a 9 quart pan and a 5 quart pan? I will try and get a serial number. Everything on this crawler seems to be factory, but I suppose there could have been a swap of some kind. I was thinking that the ...

350B Diesel Engine Oil

After a complete rebuild I am re filling the fluids. Started at the front and working back but hit a stall at the engine oil. I must say the engine is the only thing on this machine that was not completely rebuilt. Capacities in the manual call for 9 quarts, I currently have 5 quarts in it and am sh...

350B reverser removal from rear

I am New to the forum and have been operating my 1972 350B for several years. My current project started with needing steering clutches mostly from sitting. I decided as long as I had the machine this far down I would remove and replace the reverser clutches as well as the crawler seemed to slip whi...
