continuing saga...learn today they can't grind it because they can't find the correct bearings. They want to MagnaFlex it and send it to have material welded on to be ground down to starting size. Obviously, there must be bearings available...any one have apart number I can throw at these guys? This...

440ic crankshaft-regrind or replace?

Rebuilding my crawler motor...machine shop guy says you can't regrind the crank because it's too old, it'll weaken it.

Opinions?

Source for new ones? Lavoy?

Motor Swap: rebuilt 2 cyl 420 into a 440ic?

I've found a 420 for sale locally that the owner says has a fresh rebuilt 2 cyl gas motor. I have a 440ic 2 cyl gas that has developed a knock. I'm going to rebuild it, but would love to have a fresh motor while I was doing it.

How compatible is this swap? What factors do I have to consider?

440ic started knocking...

2cyl gas dozer started knocking last weekend...Any common easy problems to look for first, or am I going to be rebuilding this over the winter?

Wow...it was a piece of cake.
Didn't have to break the track. Blocked the machine in back and under the blade...raised enough so the track was off the ground. Collapsed the adjuster, swung the track off enough the remove the idler wheel and slide the adjuster off.

Took about an hour.

repairing track adjusters 440ic

Threw a track yesterday and in putting it back on, noticed that the right side track adjuster was blowing grease from around the rod.

How much of a job is it to remove one of these? Mine has a "Shroud" around the rear portion...does this come off?

We haven't had a "winter" here in Maine for a few years at least. Last year I didn't have to plow my driveway once! That's unheard of. Any snow we got would melt the next day. This year is starting out the same way...it was almost 60 last weekend. I was on the crawler in a T-shirt...in January...IN ...

440ic "popping" at idle

My 440 has developed an annoying backfire at idle. Real sharp "snap" backfire...everything's fine when I put it under load...it just happens at idle. On a side note, she's been great pushing down trees. Push 'em high to dislodge the roots, chain 'em and drag 'em out. Luckily we're having a VERY mild...

Gary, at some point I'll probably get rid of that seat frame...although shipping across country would hurt...

I live in Bradley now, but I grew up in Millinocket. Waaaaay up state from Mexico. What did you do when you were here?

You eyeballin' my seat cowboy?

I have a spare seat frame off the parts dozer. I'm not sure if I'm ready to "part" (HA!) with it yet...but money does talk
