Re: Idler wheel axle
If you just deformed/rolled the very outer ends of the bushings, they might be salvaged by filing away any ridge there. May not be ideal but it can work. If no ridge, the bushings and shaft should be measured. If there is no clearance they may need fitting by a machine shop, unless you have provisi...

so I'm replacing the axle ( idler shaft ) , bushings , thrust plates and oil seals on my 40, got the new bushings in but the new idler shaft is not cooperating , I put it in the freezer thinking it will shrink just enough to go thru the bushings , does it need to be pressed in or can I get it in if ...

Re: 420 masterlink pin
I think the gib plate holes are threaded, so I can't imagine what's going on with the inside one. So i got the tensioners and gib plates off and Buckhorn yur correct , they are threaded , but someone put different size bolts in them and hogged out the inside so i went with the next size up and used...

Re: 420 masterlink pin
Ok , got the left outside gib plate off so i can take the big spring with adjustment nuts off and clean up , someone put different size nuts and bolts on it , the inside gib plate seems like the bolts are pressed in maybe cuz they had nuts that came off from the top ?

Re: 420 masterlink pin
An easy way to remove the adjusters is to remove the 2 bolts that hold the gib plate on the bottom. They have a 15/16 head, and are either side of the gib where the 2 nuts are tightened against. Then the whole spring assembly will come right off, and you can get it up on a bench to loosen the nuts....
