It may sound strange, but you don't have the cap on 180 degrees out do you?
Just a thought as to why spark isn't getting through.

Go to John Deere Parts online and look at the pictures and see what looks like your setup.

Re: Oh crap!
The plate under the oil filter was mentioned in this post. My 420c doesn't have that plate, but it looks like the NAPA 1148 filter, has a hard fiber washer attached to the filter, as oil pressure is good. I assume this takes the place of that plate. I haven't changed the oil in my 40u yet, but I wil...

Re: Roller grease and guns
Where can I get corn head grease or an equivalent in gallon or pail size containers? I have an Alemite 6521 grease pump that looks like it would hold about 3 gallons. It was given to me with what looks like 000 or 00 in it, but I have exhausted the supply. John Deere sells it by the tube, pail, or ...

Re: hydraulic pump adjust
If you disconnect the hose on the rod end, and apply down pressure, there shouldn't be any fluid coming out of the cylinder. Do one side at a time. Some cylinders are easier to rebuild than others. On my 420 the blade would drop after a few minutes, and the seals were hard to find, so I bought new o...

Re: 420-crawler new voltage regulator 6 volts
The easiest place to connect a jumper wire to polarize the generator, is to connect from the battery terminal on the starter, to the armature terminal on the generator. The regulator is buried behind the dash, and it's hard to get to the terminals. The armature terminal should have an 'A' stamped in...

Re: 420-crawler new voltage regulator 6 volts
According to everything I have read, you nee to polarize anytime the system has been worked on, especially when the battery has been disconnected. Here is some good information that I found, when I recently changed the regulator on my JD 40U. http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/electrical/49dr324/i...

Re: john deere 420c steering clutch linkage adjustment...
Are you going by the adjustments in the service manual? The adjustments are also in the operators manual.
By doing the adjustment, it should put the throw out bearing up against the fingers. Any further pulling of
the lever should move the fingers.

Re: 450B Radiator Replacement
Look for a radiator shop near you and get an estimate.
You can probably find a used one somewhere, but may run into the same problem.

Re: Fluids in a transmission.
6 1/2 quarts of SAE 90 gear oil. I used 80W-90 in both the transmission and the final drives. Final drives are filled to the filler hole on the side, about 3/4 quart.
