Wanted: Flywheel RE15923 (Marked R79771)

Hi, I'm looking for the newer style flywheel for a John Deere 350C/350D dozer. The manual list the part number as RE15923 (Marked R79771). I have the original flywheel and isolator with springs (pre 706658 serial number). All the parts are worn out and the isolator no longer has the ceramic ring on ...

Re: 350C - 3152D - Not starting

Does anyone have the part number for the engine service manual? I have the service manual for the dozer, but not a specific one for the engine. The dozer manual mentions a CTM-4 manual for disassembly and assembly. That looks specific to 179 engines. I've got a 152. Web search shows a TM for John De...

Re: 350C - 3152D - Not starting

This is a very slow process as I have too many hobbies. However, the engine is out pictures are attached of the cylinder sleeves. Looks like a rebuild is in order. Cylinder 1 has some pretty deep vertical grooves, Cylinder 2 had the highest compression >200 and has a small burn/pit, and Cylinder 3 h...

Re: JD350B Brakes

Most likely what Lavoy and others have said, out of adjustment on the clutches and brakes. I'll ask the following question only because it happened to me and you didn't mention if there were any attachments on the back of the dozer. Does your 350B have a PTO and winch? I ask because I have a 350C (w...

Re: 350C - 3152D - Not starting

After a week of bad weather and soaking the injectors in PB Blaster I was able to get them out and do the compression test. The Amazon gauge kit worked well. I use the seal from an injector to put on the compression tool and then secure the tool in the block with the injector bolt and clamp. https:/...

Re: 350C - 3152D - Not starting

Here's the Amazon compression tester I ordered and it should be delivered Monday. The #3 adapter looks like it will work for the pencil injectors. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-BC2CTELd8is/Y7RQm4DlJpI/AAAAAAAAj6c/LecnUdvaggQl8Zc4Hj15YBqIueiKVd6AgCNcBGAsYHQ/s1600/1672761498483611-0.png The local...

Thanks for the information Leonard.
I'll post an update once I make some progress on testing.
Finding the adapter for the compression tester is my current challenge.

350C - 3152D - Not starting

The dozer was starting really easy in warm weather, with several weeks to a month between starts. It's now cold in southwest Virginia and the last two times it took a bit of cranking to get the engine to start, wearing the battery down on the last time I got in it running. Today was near 50F and I w...

Re: JD350C winch shaft wear?

For drilling the end of the winch shaft I used a carbide tipped drill bit. The steel drilled rather easy, it didn't drill like hardened steel. I used a 18V hand held drill and it didn't struggle at all, and made nice chips while drilling. It also tapped easily with standard taps, so I don't think mi...

Final Drive Bearing Race Removal

I replaced all the bearings in the final drive of my JD350C and thought I'd provide a few details for anyone that may need to do the same. This is only one of many techniques and it worked for me. Your experience may have different results. The process was pretty simple once you get past using a wel...

350C Reverser operation questions

Several observations and questions with my reverser on the 350C. After getting the final drives back together I have been using the dozer a bit, maybe 4-5 hours total. It seems to be running well, but I have a few questions below. This is my first dozer and so I am trying to learn what is "normal" i...

Re: JD350C clutch seals? (Thrust Washers - Solved)

Hi Jim, What threw me off here was one clutch had the thrust washer and the other clutch did not. I assume someone forgot to put the other one in. This started my search for a part number. I didn't initially find the thrust washer in my print manual as I was only looking in the clutch section. Leona...

Re: 350C Clutch Control Valve Adjustment

I made a gauge to clamp to the hand bar on the dozer to help set the clutch valves and brake linkage. This was a scrap piece of wood and a metal bracket used to secure electrical conduit. I started with Leonards procedure to get in the ball park. Then made some final adjustments with this gauge moun...

Re: JD350C winch shaft wear? (Replaced)

I found a used winch shaft out of a 350B model with less wear than mine. I had some trouble pulling mine out and ended up drilling and tapping the end to accept a bolt. This allowed me to use a puller to get the shaft and bearing out. At some point some moisture had gotten in the case and caused the...
