Re: Newbie with a MC crawler undergoing "Rustoration"

Thank you for the subscription - share it with your friends! LOL And thanks for the compliment... I've been trying to make something educational and entertaining - because quite honestly, during these times, the isolation out here on the farm is a bit of a pain in the butt! It gives me a chance to p...

Re: Newbie with a MC crawler undergoing "Rustoration"

Thanks for the tip Lavoy... I have no idea what I am doing with this thing! So I need all the help I can get! I pulled the final drive assembly off today! It was quite the adventure... I am editing the video now and it should be posted on YouTube about noon tomorrow. It became quite evident why the ...

Re: Newbie with a MC crawler undergoing "Rustoration"

Impatiently waiting for a 2 1/4" 3/4 drive socket to arrive from Amazon... That hub nut is STILL bigger than anything I own! Even after my trip to Harbor Freight! (Bangs head on desk) And it is going to HAVE to come off... The bearings are toast! The whole sprocket assembly wiggled around in the fin...

Re: Newbie with a MC crawler undergoing "Rustoration"

I have Snap-On tools from the 1950's (Who uses whitworth sockets anymore?!?) Craftsman and others from decades past... HF is "serviceable" but I am almost embarrassed to have them in my tool boxes! But a rubber mallet is a rubber mallet... I broke my HF 1 inch ratchet wrench on video! I clicked on a...

Re: Newbie with a MC crawler undergoing "Rustoration"

Thanks for the comment Jim! Yeah... I agree with you 100 percent on the concrete blocks... However, one of those blocks is a pier block for house leveling - it is solid! But one of them is just a cinder block. The reason those two got used is because they were within 30 ft. of the dozer when I parke...

Re: Newbie with a MC crawler undergoing "Rustoration"

I broke the track! Finally! https://youtu.be/wP4pE9wlkUU I was worried about it... It went pretty well - sort of... I hurt myself breaking the bolts loose, but I got it loose! Some muscle relaxers, a half bottle of bourbon and several hot tub soakings later - I can walk without a limp and cussing li...

Re: 1951 MC crawler ignition question...

Stan - Thanks for the comment... I slapped a pair of O'reily Auto Parts 2 gauge battery cables on it. The old battery connections were kind of boogered up and the hardware was rusty and crusty to the point of being almost impossible to wrench on and off. Although the new cables fit perfectly with no...

Re: 1951 MC crawler ignition question...

I "tested" the oil pressure gauge with an air compressor - no reading... So I ordered one and it should be here next week. I don't want to run it until I have a functioning oil pressure gauge! In the meantime I get to replace some belts and hoses and get the radiator and fuel tank cleaned out and pr...

Re: 1951 MC crawler ignition question...

From the sound when you tried to turn left the left steering clutch is stuck/rusted and not releasing, so the engine lugs as you pull back into the brake. Yep, exactly what I was thinking... I am not looking forward to breaking the track and diving off into that final drive unit - but it needed doi...
