My guess it would cost a small fortune at Deere labor is probably 100.00 + an hour. One thing that seems to help for me is to slowly heat the head of the bolt, Theory being that it gets hot and expands in the hole and helps to break it loose. Heat it back off heat it and so on so the heat travels do...

As a trucker I think those ice road guys are nuts, and as far as taking my crawler over the ice I think 50 feet thick would be safe but anything less forget it. I personally would feel safer to float it across on some sort of a barge. There is just something about metal tracks on ice that does' nt a...

Just a thought but while I had the track frames off my 1010 I took them to a shop by me and he cut pieces out of the area where the idler rides and welded in new pieces of what he called T-1, which is very hard and does not wear easy. I have put apx 500 hrs on so far and to this point it looks good,...

I would agree with Bill that it makes the frame stronger. I find that when you take the pan on or off you sometimes have to uae an hydraulic jack to press on the rails or the pan a little to get all the bolt holes lined up so there must be some flex in the rails. If the machine was working, my guess...

I have original Deere manuals for a 1010 so I thought I would check them to see. They are not showing an oil gauge, just a so called Tel-Light. The only gauges shown on the dash are water temp and fuel. I have a 1010 and had another in the past and both had oil gauges. I guess someone must have adde...

I am no expert but I always use the JD Hi-gard in my 1010 reverser. They tell me it meets all the specs for a 1010 and I figure if it is good enough for todays hi-tech machines it should be good enough for a working relic like a 1010. I have put many hours on 1010s and have never had any reverser pr...

That does seem odd, everything from old welders to old trucks always seems to have an oil gauge, are you sure someone has not altered it . Is there a place in the dash for a gauge?
