Hydraulic issues on 1010 crawler/loader
Hydraulics on this machine will only create 350psi. Machine has #810 loader and #35 ripper. The bucket will go up about four feet off the ground and stop, it goes down and will just start to lift the tracks and stop. The ripper goes up all the way and goes down and starts to lift the track and stop....

Re: 440 back firing
The back firing takes place no matter where the throttle is set. Last time it ran (3 days ago) I tried to reset the timing while it was running and it didn’t matter where the throttle was set or what I did with the distributor rotation it just kept back firing. Then it stalled and won’t restart. I w...

Re: 440 back firing
Thank you for the quick reply. I start it and drive it to exercise the steering clutches every two months. Probably runs a total of 30 minutes during these exercise periods. It has not done any work in about two years. You may be on to something with the sticking valve. What is the best method to ve...

440 back firing
About a month ago I started my 440 gas engine and it started right up as usual. While moving it around inside my storage shed it started to back fire, flames shooting up out of muffler about blew out my hearing aids!! Blew the flipper clean off the muffler!! OK, it’s time to do a tune up. JD dealer ...

Re: 1010 crawler loader ignition
Jim B: Thank you very much for your reply. I have tried turning the fan with all four plugs removed as you suggested with no luck. The pulley/belt just slipped. I will revisit that plan and increase the tension on the belt and give it a try. One thing I have not yet tried is to pull the crawler with...

1010 crawler loader ignition
Need a little help reinstalling the distributor on my 1963 1010. The tech book says to hold my thumb on the spark plug hole and turn the engine over until I feel pressure on my thumb (compression stroke). Then, slowly continue rolling the engine over until #23 on the flywheel comes into alignment wi...

Re: 440 engine oil leaks after rebuild
Beware of a mounting bolt that is to long and bottoming out inside the tapped hole. Torque it all you want and the damn gasket will still leak. Ask me how I gained that knowledge!!

Re: Is 350 backhoe interchangeable with a 450 ?
I have a 350B with the 9300 hoe on it. Hoe has a radial type vane cylinder on that is still working and doesn’t leak. (KNOCK ON WOOD!!) Bought it from the original owner who bought the dozer and hoe new as a package deal. Without about 3000# in the bucket the front of the track is off the ground nea...

Re: 6 wy blade rebuild
I’m in the middle of a 6-way rebuild right now. Picked up the blade last fall at Lavoy’s shop. I have been taking pictures as the project progresses and will attempt to post them on here in the near future. So far I have welded up the worn areas using a mild steel rod 6011 which has deep penetration...

1010 Hydraulics
I’m in the process of putting the loader back on the crawler. My question is, how do I prime the hydraulic pump which is in the front of the engine? The hydraulic oil tank is way back along side the seat and I’m concerned about damage to the pump while it is running dry until oil gets all the way up...

Re: 440IC, 63 blade coming for parts
Lavoy,
Does this 440 have rops on it by chance? Or do you have any rops available for a 440 with a #63 blade (soon to be a #64)??
Jim
