Re: '68 350B right side final drive removal

The old 350B now turns left and right, in both forward and reverse, and the track can be tensioned. :D

For now, I'm going to leave the left side alone. Maybe next spring I will repeat this adventure on the left side.

Re: '68 350B right side final drive removal

My kids stopped by, we had a lawn-mowing fest and pizza-fest. Anyway, after I posted my question, I started searching for tips and came across something similar to what dtools1 posted. Only it used bread, a socket, and a hammer. I was skeptical of this Internet legend, but I had bread, a socke...

Re: '68 350B right side final drive removal

So far so good. Now the next stuck piece, the shaft pilot bearing, part JD8567. It's the bearing that the end of the clutch input shaft rides on. It's a blind bearing, so you have to put a puller into the 9/16 (or so) inside diameter opening in the bearing to pull it. I have no idea what kind of ind...

Re: 350B steering brake lever question

It now spins freely on the shaft.
After a week of penetrating oil, banging, and cursing.
LOL

I figure since everything is apart, I may as well make sure everything works as it should.

Re: 350B steering brake lever question

The arm with the adjustment screw in it looks like it is keyed to the shaft, and it does have the capscrew to pinch the shaft. The part I am referring to is the arm/lever that the screw pushes against, and then a rod connects to the brake pedal and a small plate connects to the brake toggle lever. I...

350B steering brake lever question

I'm replacing the steering clutches and brakes on my 350B and had a question on the "brake lever". This is a lever inside the steering and braking mechanism. It is part T23624T and is on the steering arm shaft that runs under the cover plate for the steering clutch and brake adjustment. Is the lever...

Re: '68 350B right side final drive removal

The bearings looked good, so I think I need to add another shim to the stack under the quill cover T24860.

Re: '68 350B right side final drive removal

The air hammer worked great! Less than 5 minutes and the rest was disassembled. I have most of the linkages freed up, but I think I need the inner and outer cone bearings, JD7390 and JD8902. The final drive shaft has a good bit of play in it. I didn't get it apart yet to verify the bearings' conditi...

Re: '68 350B right side final drive removal

Sir,
That is exactly what I was about to try and wanted to quick check the forum before I got to business. LOL

I have an air hammer, ball peen hammer, and blunt chisels.

More to follow.....

Re: '68 350B right side final drive removal

I got the final drive off. That is a story in itself. My next question is how to get the plates and disks out of the clutch/brake hub? They have not moved in years and are rusted in there pretty good. I was able to get the first four pairs out but now the rest are so deep I don't have enough room to...

Re: '68 350B right side final drive removal

If I can get the cylinder pin out, I think that will work. Once the rain stops, I am hoping I can get back to the project.

I'll let you know if it I got it apart by just removing the bracket.

'68 350B right side final drive removal

As soon as I get a method to post pics I will post a few, but I have a question on removing the final drives. The right side steering clutch and brake needs to be rebuilt, so I need to remove the final drive. Getting out the master link pin was pretty easy, and the drive sprocket came off in a few m...

Re: 350B with rockshaft- backhoe mount?

Darn. It sounds like that idea is out the window. I have a few ideas for the 3-pt, and I can see that being used more than a backhoe. At least in the long term.

Bruce,

If Lavoy doesn't take the 3-pt pieces, let me know. I'll PM you.

350B with rockshaft- backhoe mount?

I have been using the 350B that I picked up in 2021 (thanks to the moderator of this forum). It is still a NASCAR Crawler (it only turns left LOL). I'm getting ready to fix the steering issue, and I found an early 9300 backhoe (with the rotary swing cylinder). I figure as long as the crawler will be...

Re: 350 snow calk questions

I think that's what spoiled me, the loader grousers. I used to have an old Oliver crawler loader with loader grousers, and this 350B is a loader with the loader grousers. I used to be able to run the old Oliver all over the lawn and you barely would know where it went unless it was wet. These snow c...
