Does anyone have a manual for the 8A winch or know where I could get one? I just purchased an entire 440IC completely disassembled just for the winch and maybe a few other parts. I got the master cylinder working and the drive gear for the winch turns but I don’t know where to go from here. Any advi...

No washer. That’s probably the 1/8” I’m missing. I’m not sure if it was where there. I’ll remove the bull gear cover tomorrow and make sure it didn’t drop down in. This drive also didn’t have any shims when I tore it apart. Someone has been here before.

Should I check the spacer or just add more shims? Also with that much wear would it be better to add a washer to the spacer rather than shim the bearing?

I put new bearings in and according to my measurements I would need around .125” to be close and that doesn’t seem right.

How many thousandths of shims does it normally take to shim the final drive output shaft?

What is the thin metal sleeve that slides over the spline and inside the steering clutch throw out bearing for?

You all were right. Input shaft bearing is loose. Started tearing it down tonight, should be able to remove transmission tomorrow evening.

Is there any way to check this bearing before disassembly?

Would it be easier to remove the transmission instead? We rebuilt the reverser, engine and installed a new main clutch a few years back. As it sits now the tracks are off and one final drive removed.

That’s not what I wanted to hear, but I guess I have no choice but to fix it. Thanks for the replies.

It miraculously started working so now I’m really afraid. It snaps in but not the 20lb force like it’s supposed to be. It has been whining more than normal lately.
