Re: New (to me) BO Lindeman

Hey everyone, I got my Lindeman running yesterday and took it out for a drive. The project took just 3 days short of 10 months. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/TApTztyaQgoYq56q8IstruKJUVFk2op7seNKLIs6zYc0v4Sq10hfGa5K-IJV9-XrBpPjo2dU5mSD-dyb3UaET-dXu8v9zOH2T5uNZnGkYyD6dqeaGwB9JbRXl_rL4xnFI-KC0RKJ6-...

Re: New (to me) BO Lindeman

They aren't snap ring grooves are they? Early MC had snap ring grooves on each end of the shaft. Lavoy I don't think they are snap ring gloves, but I am open to suggestions. On each end of the 1 1/2" diameter shaft there is a 3/8" wide, 3/16" radius groove around the shaft. This groove lines up wit...

Re: New (to me) BO Lindeman

I am putting the the track frames back together on my BO and I have a question about the idler brackets and shaft. The shaft has a groove on each end and the screw that goes through the idler bracket presumably engages this groove to keep the shaft from slipping to either side. My question is how ti...

Re: New (to me) BO Lindeman

There are new pads available from the museum at Union Gap , WA, the press that made the original pads is still function able, every so often they press out new pads. Couple years ago I was at the tractor show there and they were running to press.. Quite interesting process. I'll see if I can get so...

Anyone know of a source for the TE41 or M1667T 14" track shoes?

Re: New (to me) BO Lindeman

I have a question now about the Throttle Rod on the BO Lindeman. This is the rod that goes from the throttle lever to the Governor. On the ends of this lever there are some 3/8 pieces of rod inserted into the thicker bent sleeve. My question is, are these threaded into this sleeve? I need to turn th...

Re: New (to me) BO Lindeman

I did some web searching and wound back up here. Seems there us a product called Devcon Titanium Putty. Is this stuff really strong enough to hold a gear on a shaft with worn splines? Interesting.

Re: New (to me) BO Lindeman

Yes, plenty of spline left. Just a little bit of rotational play of the gear on the shaft that I was concerned about. I'll leave it. Thanks for the advice.

Do you mean rotational play, or side play?
Lavoy
Rotational play. I can rotate each one of the gears just about a 16th of an inch (measured at the shaft) so the play out at the end of the teeth is greater.

Re: New (to me) BO Lindeman

I took both final drives off my Lindeman last weekend and went through and cleaned up the steering clutches. Aside from someone drastically overgreasing the throw out bearings and the smell of decades-old transmission fluid everything looks good and all bearings and seals are in great shape. My PTO ...

Yes they will. I have some of the early MC brackets with the open hole, they look a little more original than the late style.

Question:

Will the front idler brackets from an MC work as-is on a BO Lindeman?

Re: New (to me) BO Lindeman

The teardown is progressing. I have both tracks and track frames off getting everything cleaned up and checked. One chain measures new, the other is badly worn so it's getting shipped off Tuesday to get new pins and bushings. I am working now to get the drive sprockets off the axles. The LH sprocket...
