Re: 350 Death?
I have a good engine out of a straight 450 I would sell you but I see we are on opposite ends of the world lol:) Hate that happened, hope you're able to find an engine at a decent price.

Re: JD 450C hlr trouble in reverse only
Well the hlr is finally out of it. Won't lie it's a pretty good bit of work to get it out. Waiting on parts now to rebuild hlr and then gonna go back together with it. Can't wait to get this thing finished up.

Re: JD 450C hlr trouble in reverse only
Made some progress this morning. Got everything pulled off the top and the top plate off the transmission. Also went ahead and pulled the engine. Do you know in which order the hlr clutches are in the transmission on the shaft? From front to back I'm curious which pack is in the middle because from ...

Re: JD 450C hlr trouble in reverse only
Thats good news. Will probably start pulling everything off the top this afternoon and pull the top cover off of the transmission.

Re: JD 450C hlr trouble in reverse only
I gotcha. I will probably try to pull it with radiator and hydraulic pump all still attached and just pull them all as one. When I get the hlr out would I be able to replace the seals in it or would I need to purchase a remanufactured one?

Re: JD 450C hlr trouble in reverse only
that is great news!! I wasn't sure if I needed to break the tracks and pull axles out again or not. Thats a huge relief because geez those steering clutches and brake drums are heavy. From what I've read pulling the engine isn't a huge job if I remember correctly. Doesn't look like there is too much...

Re: JD 450C hlr trouble in reverse only
yeah it definitely feels like it is slipping. Im guessing my next step would be to pull it and see what I can find out on it. To remove it I just need to pull everything back off the top to be able to pull the transmission top cover and I will need to remove the engine as well correct?

JD 450C hlr trouble in reverse only
Needing some help with a 450c I recently purchased. I bought the dozer knowing it needed steering clutches and brake bands. I just finished changing steering clutches and brake bands on both sides and now it turns perfect just as she should. The problem I have now is that it has no power in reverse....

Re: New project 450c
Good looking machine! Sure sounds like you may have a head gasket issue. If that's the case and you don't feel like pulling it down right now or don't have time Ive heard great things on Blue Devil head gasket sealer. Have been told it works miracles. Just gotta make sure to follow instructions clos...

Re: 450b clutch trans steering
Personally I've had pretty good luck getting parts. Haven't bought anything from Deere though. Several good options for aftermarket that will save you $$$. What do you race if you don't mine me asking?

Re: 450b clutch trans steering
Adjustments unfortunately not gonna solve that steering issue. I just finished changing steering clutches and brake bands on my 450c a few days ago. Definitely a job breaking the tracks and removing everything off the top but once you get in there there is nothing to it just some heavy lifting. Does...

Re: 450C Clutch Issue
were you ever able to get to the bottom of this issue and get your pressures corrected?
