Re: Soot in radiator, is it what I think?

Well this doesn't sound real good. Usually if it is a head gasket it will be blowing exhaust gases into the cooling system and then shows up in the radiator as bubbles and suit. It will also force your coolant out of the system. There are kits available for checking your coolant to see if exhaust g...

Soot in radiator, is it what I think?

450C, have been having to add a little coolant along, really hasn't had me too concerned but I've noticed what looks what I first thought grease but now I believe is soot that accumulate on the bottom of the radiator cap. Motor runs on the warm side of normal but starts instantly and seems to have p...

where is the NSS switch located?
After you take the left floorboard out follow the HLR linkage to the side of the transmission. The NSS is located there.

Re: JD 450C no crank

When I bought my 450C the wiring was a mess, the previous owner had install a starter button “jumper” with 10ga. wire and a momentary single throw switch. I pulled all that out and hooked up the old starter button wiring. I then found I had similar issues to yours, intermittent starting. Long story ...

Re: 450c wiring schematic

Does your 450c have a voltmeter or ammeter?
Mine has an ammeter (yes, it is a real 450c) and couldn’t find a schematic anywhere. I found a schematic for a 450b was close but had different wire colors.

Re: JD450C low range on HLR intermittent

ND Phack,
Did you get your low gear problem fixed? If so, what was the problem? My crawler is acting up in low gear.
Thanks!

Nice honest looking original crawler.
Actually works better than it looks, not quite as "clapped out" as others I had looked at. Hate that all the name plates were removed.

When you said "the terminals on the switch are the head of two nails", this is what I pictured, which is what a 2030 uses.
My apologies, when I first found the switch (under the LH floor plate) it was covered in thick crud and I "assumed  " it was like the starter switch.

Neutral Safety Switch (450C)

Can’t find a part number and I’m sure other applications use the same connector but the connector is missing and has been “straight wired” and readily starts in gear. I’d like to enable this safety for obvious reasons. Part number for the switch is AT14407. My best description of the terminals on th...
